Well June 12 I started having strong contractions and I went to the hospital, where they gave me a shot to stop my contractions. They did and ultrasound and only saw one baby weighing about 2 pounds. But what's funny is that when I went they thought that I was full term. So the nurse was actually curious as to if I was having twins. Even after the ultrasound the nurse was still skeptical. She told me to come back and let her know if there is more than one. I guess I am just big. I have only gained about 10 pounds and it's all stomach. Look at my picture on my page. I went to Babies R Us on Wednesday and this lady was on her way out and stopped me and said I hope your do any day now and I said no not until the end of September and she said oh my gosh she's big. I thought that, that was quite funny. June 10 I went into Macy's and the sales clerk asked how many months was I and I told her 6 months and she said ooooh are you having twins. Everyone is curious I guess.
Thank you, and yes I will update everyone.
i'm glad you have another u/s scheduled. i would think at 17wks they would really be able to tell if there were 2 or not... but i've never been in that situation. i just read that in a case of monoamniotic twins (when they share the same sac) then there can be a misdiagnosis... but this may not be the case for you... maybe it really was just a mistake! i hope you get the answers you're looking for and good luck! will you update us after your u/s???
I am going this Wensday. I'ts just bothering me. I just have so many questions.
I would recommend getting another ultrasound by a 3rd party...someone not involved with the other two people. See what they say.
Thank you! I was 17 weeks at that time, and I am 24 weeks now. I know it's been a while, but a lot about the ultrasounds, aren't adding up, among other things.
that's weird... i'll try and find some info for you... how many weeks are you? and how many weeks were you at the time of the u/s?
Well I went and got an ultrasound done, and the tech saw twins, even showed me two babies, one set of legs on one side and one set on the on the other side. Then she showed both set of legs on the screen at the same time. Then another tech told me no i am not having twins.
ooh... that one i may not know!!! :( misdiagnosed how? like they were told they were having twins and are not? or was told its only 1 and are really having 2? i still may not know the answer but i can try to help find some info... and someone on here hopefully can help more than i can. there's not a whole lot of activity on here on the weekends so if you don't get enough info... try reposting on monday. but in the mean time i'll try and help find some info if i can! :)
What is the likely hood of someone being misdiagnosed with having twins, from a ultrasound?
what type of info are you looking for???
