Seek a second, third, fourth opinion if that's what it takes. I had the same issue with my youngest DS, and I noticed a fluid filled pocket right on my belly button to the right hand side. I have also had some pains there, nothing major but it's extremely tender all the time. My youngest DS's doctor(my old family doc in MI) told me it was a fat pocket, and it was nothing to be concerned about.
Well, now that I am pregnant again, I have noticed that when Kora kicks around the fluid filled lump it hurts like hell, it also hurts more than it did when I was pregnant with DS. I got the guts to finally ask my doctor here, and he diagnosed me with an umbilical hernia, which I will need surgery to fix after Kora is born.
My doctor TOLD me, that with pregnancy the abdominal muscles actually tear from the center of your belly and move to the sides of your abdomen, which is why a belly looks funny if you try to sit up or flex your abdominal muscles after birth. With ANY pregnancy, whether it be a first time pregnancy or 6th time, the abdominal wall can weaken due to all the stretching of your belly and tearing of your abdominal muscles, and with this a hernia can form.
I would suggest going back to the original doctor who diagnosed it as a hernia, and tell him/her that your having issues finding someone who takes you seriously for one, and two, someone who can pay attention to your concerns. That doctor may be able to refer you to a surgeon or other family doctor to help you better. I know hernia's suck....i'm terrified to have mine fixed, but I know it needs to be done, and I plan on having it done after Kora is born.
Good luck! And I wish you the best!
P.s. You should file a complaint about the doctor who slapped you on the a s s. That is sexual harrassment and you could get some big $$$ lol.
First of all...you need to file a formal complaint against that sexist pig that smacked you on the rear. He needs to lose his license. Uggg I would have smacked his stupid a s s back.
Second. You need to keep looking until you find a doctor who will the appropriate tests to make YOU comfortable with whatever diagnosis. These doctors get paid becuase of patients so it is their job to do what it takes to make the patient comfortable. Perhaps you could ask the pediatrician if he knows someone he would recommend?
Also ask around. Call the hospital and ask if they have any doctors they recommend. Ask other people. Once you have some names, check them out...look up their licensing info on the website for the medical licensing board in your state. Check to see what if any complaints they've had against them. Hopefully that will help you to weed out the quacks and jerks. Many doctors like to treat younger patients like they are stupid becuase they feel they know more because they went to medical school but the reality is you know your body best and shouldn't give up until YOU are satisfied.
I have an umbilical hernia (I just had my baby 4 weeks ago tomorrow) and my OBGYN told me to wait 2 or 3 months for everythign to go back down and then see my regular Dr about getting in for an ultrasound to see if I need surgery, if i have the possibility of needing surgery at all I am going to get it since I am not sure if I'm done having kid's and i don't want it to get worse in future pregnancies! If they tried to blow me off liek they did to you I would definitely see a different Dr and demand atleast an ultrasound! Good luck and hope things get better! oh also my Dr said not to be doing any lifting if i can help it other than ther baby and light things, because it can make it worse!
Keep seeking more opinions and demand that the appropriate tests are run.
I have an umbilical hernia. My OB found it after I told him about the pain. He spotted it right away and said it was about the size of his pinky fingertip. He said that since I am pregnant he wouldn't refer me to a surgeon because it is so small. He said it would bother me a little during the pregnancy. He said the reason why I even noticed it was because as my uterus started growing, it apparently put pressure on that area and that is why the pain started. He said it is so small, I probably won't need surgery after my pregnancy is over. I had pain with it for about a month but I don't really even notice it anymore. I don't know if I got used to the discomfort or I just made up my mind that I've got to deal with it until after the baby is born. My OB told me they are very common and not to worry at all because it is so tiny.
Can the Doc who said he FELT IT write a letter and refer you??
I hate docs? But can he not say that he is 99% sure you have a hernia and be like well check her over because it toook 5 OF YOU to find out she had BROKEN HER BACK!! So I suggest you check it out and give her scans because if she does have a hernia then she can and probably will sue ever doc who said it was nothing!!!!!
LOL

I friggin hate drs for this reason exactly..,. They always over look things and they always think they are right.... I would go see the origional dr that told you that you had a hernia and maybe he can refer you to a dr saying that you indeed have a hernia.... Other than that the only thing you can really do is go from dr to dr until you actualy find a dr that is willing to listen.... I hope you get this worked out
Hmmm...The only thing I could suggest is to see another dr. Maybe call the one who said he felt it and ask for his opinion/or recommendation of who to see. Maybe he knows someone who can help. Sorry I can't be of much help, I hope you get it sorted out soon!
