OT- coupons

Ok, so I have seen people mention that they clip coupons and I periodically see stories on tv where a person is able to cut a $200 grocery bill down to $50 by using coupons!  How is this done and where do you get the coupons from?  Do you have any internet sites you would recommend or do you get coupons from another source?  All the internet sites I have found seem to lead me in a wild goose chase (sign up which requires an email address, click on a link to supposedly get coupons, find out you have to fill in a "brief" survey, get taken to another link after doing that, then get bombarded with spam etc. etc. etc).  One time I even filled in a survey I received in the mail that promised after doing so I would get over $500 worth of coupons - a few months later I received a coupon for $0.50 off a food item and a coupon for $499.99 off a brand new car (or course the car cost over 30k).

What is the secret?  Where are the legitimate places to get coupons from?

I use coupons. com and like them very much. Actually I use a website that links me to coupons. com and I earn points every time I use the coupons. A few times a year I turn in my points for gift cards (I go out to eat at Chilli's, Fridays, Outback, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, where ever I choose). If you are interested in this program, PM me and I will give you more details. (Also, I will get points for you signing up and participating!) :)

One coupon trick I learned recently is that when items are on sale for BOGO, you can use TWO coupons to help you save even more money. Also, some stores will allow you to use a STORE coupon AND a manufacturer coupon on ONE item. Finally, some stores will accept competitor coupons. I used all of these tricks this past weekend and cashed in over $30 in coupons total. I am NOT a coupon diva, but I sure felt like one this weekend! I was able to get Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo AND lotion, 3 packs of wipes, and a bag of Huggies diapers ALL for under $10 total! Considering that Huggies are about $10/pack, I felt like I was getting the other items for free!

I read a coupon blog and this lady would look in her sunday paper and if she liked the coupons, she would buy 6 papers and clip them. They saved coupons and waited until they went on sale so they could buy in bulk and save even more. They werent picky about brands either.

Try coupon suzy .com too

Thanks Ladies!  I printed off a few coupons from couponmom and couponsurfer and sent hubby to get groceries so we will see how he did.  I will definitely have to check out the Sunday paper (I havent done that in years) and go to individual websites although that seems very time consuming.

BTW:  another great website that has nothing to do with coupons is gasbuddy.  It allows you to type in a zip code and it will tell you the prices of gas from cheapest to dearest in appropriate.  Good way to find the cheapest gas near you (or when going on a trip) especially with prices so high these days.

Oh and you can also get free samples from websites. I've got a free tub of wipes heading to my house within the next 4 weeks! I get a lot of free samples on Walmart's website.

The sunday paper is usually on sale on Tuesdays where I live, i wait for it to go on sale, .35 cents.  That is where i get most of mine.  i also use a site called coupons. com it didn't take that long to sign up for and I have found it to be really easy and no spam from it.  I have gotton a lot of good coupons.  Also if you go directly to a products website, they sometimes have coupons you can print or have them mailed.

Oh, and get on the forums! Ask the veteran couponers how they do what they do. There should be a lot of info on those forums!!!

I've just started "couponing" and it's TOUGH! I just saved about $10 at Walmart using coupons for my shampoo, razors, tupperware, etc. The websites I've used are couponmom and couponsurfer and mybargainbuddy. But I'm going to check out hotcouponworld because that sounds more relevant to what I want/need!

Most coupon sites give you the run-around. I also cut from the Sunday paper. I don't pay for the paper---my inlaws just give me their ads and coupons from theirs.

I have seen these shows too and wonder the same thing.. The other day me and DH were in  CVS and they had a sale on deodorant, like buy one get one free or something..and this lady had coupons for the same deodorant so she ended up getting 15 sticks of deodorant for .96 cents......can you believe that? but when  my husband asked her where she gets all the coupons she said she gets 6 Sunday papers delivered to her house...that's a lot of money on newspaper!!!!

Yes! I am a couponer.  check out this site:  www. hotcouponworld. com (without the spaces)  They have all major stores listed under categories (grocery, drugstore, box store) and you can click on the store (walmart, cvs, walgreens, kroger, etc) and they will have the weekly ad, plus match up coupons for you.  Some are printable and they will provide the link,  but most come from the sunday paper. Some items end up being free after coupon and sometimes you can get overage on an item at walmart (i.e. item costs .97 and you have $1 coupon, most cashiers take off $1).  CVS is a good place to start, if you have one close to your house.  They offer items free after extra care bucks (you need an extra care card) and if you match them up with coupon they can be free or you can make money to spend on items you need (like detergent).  Check it out and please feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
