I'm rh neg also. You are supposed to get a rhogam shot at 28 weeks and right after birth or anytime there is vaginal bleeding. Talk to your ob about it. If you have missed the 28th week shot of rhogam I'm not sure if you can take it this far along. The purpose of the shot is anytime there is the possibility of blood transfer between you and baby it prevents you from becoming sensitized. (Where you develop anti bodies that attack the positive antigen in the blood) the shot is because you don't know whether the baby is also rh- (even if baby is rh neg the rhogam shot isn't harmful )

Its important to talk to your ob right away and ask about the rhogam shot.  Being sensitized can keep you from being able to carry a baby who is rh pos because your body will see the baby as a threat.  I'm sure everything will be ok. Best of luck and let us know what your ob says.

I'm also Rh - you need to have the shot ASAP. Talk to your doctor tomorrow. You're supposed to have the shot between 26 and 30 or 32 weeks and once after the baby is born only if the baby is positive. The only other reason you'd recieve the shot any other time is if you had any bleeding at all from your vagina. (sorry)

I think you just have to get it before the baby is born...not sure if there is an actual time frame. my sister in law got it w/all 4 of hers...and you only need it if you plan on having more children in the future...it prevents your body from creating and building antibodies against pregnancy

I was at my Dr last week & she asked if I had been RH- in previous pregnancies because my blood work for that test was lost. I said no & she replied "good because u would need a shot next week." that would make me around 28 weeks when I need the shot, so definitely ask about it ASAP.

The only thing I can think of is if the baby's father is also Rh-negative, I don't think you have to have the shot. Has your doctor since found out your partner's blood type? Just a thought. I would definitely check with your doc though, as the previous poster suggested.

No! You need to have that looked at, you're not overreacting! I would talk it over with your Dr as soon as possible.
