Overheating? Tips on staying cool?

is overheating bad? I'm 30 weeks and living in New York. However it gets very hot here in the summer and I don't have an air conditioner. I try to stay cool by splashing cold water on my face or soaking a washcloth in ice cold water and placing it on the back of my neck but that never lasts long. I keep an ice cold bottle of water next to my bed when I go to sleep. I always wake up overheated and thirsty as hell. However everything I do doesn't last long. Does anyone have any tips on how to stay cool?
I'm desperate because I know that overheating can cause premature labor as well as other complications with my unborn baby. Please help.

For me even just a fan helps. I keep a fan right next to bed point at me and sleep naked lol. We have AC but try not to use it much because of the cost of running it. I bring the fan and plug it in where ever I am in our house and just have it almost contstantly point at my face. It actually helps a lot.

Hmm maybe invest in a cooling system like a expensive fan that you can regulate temperature I bought one for $80 at target I think it's worth it for you because when baby doesn't come you'll need to have your house at a safe temperature any way and you don't want to over heat your body and end up passing out...!
