I get them. I had itchy legs ( not at the injection site) from my butt to my ankles! After 5 weeks of shots it has finally stopped, guess my body was adjusting to the hormones. Other then that I don't have any pain from them.
I don't get them but I give them almost daily. Irritation at the injection site is common, it has a very thick consistency and can irritate the tissue quite a bit. Let your doctor and the nurse know that it's bothering you, sometimes a longer needle can help, it will get the medication deeper into the muscle and away from the more sensitive tissue layers.
Thanks. Both this time and last pregnancy it seems like it just keeps getting worse the longer I get them. It is definitely thick!
I always have indents on my finger and thumb from pushing them, I use a 23 gauge needle for them so it makes it hard to push. They're just already so irritating that I feel bad going at someone with a thicker needle lol.
Maybe that will make a difference.. I draw them up at home and my mom or hubby give them to me and the dr gave me 21 gauge.. I will ask for some 23 gauge.. thanks again!!
My nurse told me to get it body temp before she got there so I just put it in my bra while I'm getting stuff done! LOL but I noticed it helps out when its injected!
I hope it does help :) I also use a 1½ length instead of the 1 inch. I always draw them with a thick needle, usually an 18 gauge and then switch it out. I just don't want to work as hard getting it out of the vial as I do putting it into the patient lol.
Well I get the another one next Thursday.. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again for the advice!
Thanks ladybug..I will try that too! I will try anything at this point..this one is really killing me this week. Lol
