That old wise tale is not always true. I'm having a boy and in the first trimester it was in the 160's. I'm 36 weeks and 4 days now and its in the 140's. Anita
I don't know what I'm having yet but today the HB was 157.
not true for me. All 4 of my pregnancys baby had a high heart rate, 160+ and all of them have been boys except this one. So its all an old wives tale:)
sweetangel7 is correct.
There is no correlation between HB and gender of baby - HB will range from 120-180 bpm and you will see close to the extremes of that range if you were to monitor HB over the course of a few hours. When HB is measured you are just getting the rate for a brief period of time and the rate will depend on activity level during that time frame.
I think it is truly a 50/50 chance...I'm having a boy but because of this old wives' tale, I thought for sure I had to be having a girl lol His hb has consistently been 160...it is now slower now that I am closer to my due date.
It's so hard to tell....Some women have boys who have fast heart rates and the girls have slower heart rates. I think it's what you personally experience in a pregnancy that can determine certain things. It did work for my mom, however. The girls were in the 160's and the boys were in the 140's. With my son, his heart rate was 135-145. I am anxious to see what this little one's heart rate is and maybe it will work for me. =)
