Reusable Diapers

Hi :) So I was just wondering if any of you opted to go the reusable route? Ive done a lot of reading & we'vve decided we are going to give reusuable diapers a shot. I know its expensive at first to buy all the diapers but in the long run it saves you money especially if you use the diapers for your other kids..So I was just wondering what everyone experience with them has been? What style/brand did you use? Any tips or anything?!! Anything at all about them with be helpful since no one I know has used them whatsoever.  Also I think Im gonna just wash them myself bc I heard if you use a diaper service the price is almost the same as disposable..is this true??!! Thank you!!!

I use cloth diapers on my 7 month old dd and I love it!! would never go back, we switched at 3 weeks. I have tried 17 different brands and types and have found what works best for us. personally i dont like pocket diapers ( you have to stuff them) and they always seem bulky to me. Bum genuis is a major brand..i personally didnt like them b/c of the sythetic fibre on the pockets, and their all in ones stained really bad and took forever to dry. I personally wash my own, i like to know what they are washed in. I recommend buying a diaper sprayer for when the baby starts solids, I LOVE mine! for those of you who are worried about poo in your washing machine, ebf poo is water soluable so you can do a rinse in the washing machine then a wash cycle and will never have poo in the machine, if you are a formula feeder use the diaper sprayer first. I do a load of diapers every 2-3 days and dont have stink issues, buy a diaper bag that hangs off the bathroom door...then they arent "sitting around"

my faves
1) Sposoeasys- these are an all in one diaper, so easy to use and daddy friendly, they are a good price and I find they wash up nice and dry fast. They are cotton too...in my diapering adventure I have found sythetic fibers dont seem to wash as well and my dd has senstive skin and does better with natural fibers. I prefered these in velcro rather than snaps

2)BRSB' or bagshot row bamboo- i love bamboo for my sensitive girl, these require a snappi or pins, I prefer a snappi! and they need a cover-best PUL cover by far thirsties, but I usually use a wool cover ( yes wool is actually water proof) my day time wool cover is luxe, my nighhtime wool cover is a double layer substainablebabyish

3) nightime diaper- substainablebabyish bamboo- LOVE< they only diaper that keeps it all in after 12 hrs of sleep!

I recommend you check out diaperswappers.   com   great site for advice on cloth

also you need to know that you have to wash cloth in no soap detergents, so most organic brands, or I love rockin green diaper soap ( type it into google) regualr soap will build up on your cloth and make them leak.
there is so much info about cloth, feel free to message me if you have any questions!!

good luck!

Actually you supposedly throw the "chunks" of poo into the toilet and clean the rest...but yeah its not like EVERYTHING would go into the toilet. :-/

im not there yet but the thought of "poo" going in my washer and making a mess just grosses me out!! Maybe thats just me though! I do have a friend whos using them and she says she loves them and has no issues infact the dr said since her DD is prone to the rashes the cloth is better for her!! I would also E-Bay search cus i found a 10 pack 1 size fits all for around 30$$ and i did ask my friend since i know shes looking for more as her 3rd lil princess is due in March and i wanted to give her a gift and she said they would work just fine!!

I've been researching about this too for some time now... I don't know, somehow it still bothers me the fact that you'd have the dirty diapers lying around for a while till you wash them...and the smell....at least the disposable ones you can just throw away.

I had read Bum Genies were good ones. I havent been able to find any in the stores around here to see what there actually like though! I guess I'll just have to order a bunch. I always see them on craigslist..do you think its okay to buy them used?

I mean I would just wash the liners in the sink just to give them a quick rinse out.....

I would DEF wash them yourself...No need for a diaper services!

If we had the money to buy as many as you would need, we would be using them! I have bought a few when we have had the extra money, Gdiapers and Bum genine 3.0. The gdiaper you have to buy the liners that is just the same price as diapers are, but I would use the reusable liners for them.....But DEF Bum genine 3.0 is your best buy. I love them. We now just keep them around the house just incase we run out of diapers...((we only have 3 bums and 2Gdiapers))

I have figure you would been about 12 per day and you would want at least a 2day supply, so that on the next day you could wash them and have them ready the following day.....I would also check out Ebay you could get them a little cheaper and maybe an off brand....ALso make sure its the 3.0 and they grow with your baby...the Gdiaper you have to buy each size. Also I would wash the liners after I changed my lil man as if they sit to long they get a lil stinky....
