Pap Stain? (Papanicolaou)

Ok so my ob said to prepare emotionally for my pap stain? So um idk what that is... so can any one explain??

Well ive never had one of does test done, and my ob said he did it to all preggys at 37 w ?? Is that normal or no?

Is this like a biopsy? I had one of those (biopsy) they took 5 saples from my cervix and looked with a tiny camera anf said I had a cyst. Is that the same?

They put the cells in a dish and stain them depending on how they take the dye will let you know the results,, they normally do it to test for cervical cancer as it is a rapid growth of cells in a specific area

Pap staining is used to differentiate cells in smear preparations of various bodily secretions; the specimens can be gynecological smears (Pap smears), sputum, brushings, washings, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, abdominal fluid, pleural fluid, synovial fluid, seminal fluid, fine needle aspiration material, tumor touch samples, or other materials containing cells.

They do it to test the cells to see if you have cancer. Did you have a papsmear that came back with funny results or something
