Pasturized/Unpasturized

This morning I woke up so thirsty craving milk, so i open the refrigerator poor a cup full and gulp gulp..it tasted good at first, then i look at the carton as im taking my third gulp and i see ultra-pasturized and im like WAT, & then I look again and it says half & half.........and I wanted to puke, it was gross!! Anyway im so confused, is ultra-pasteurized good or bad? Is it the unpasturized thats no good, cause I was freaking out and then my DF was like no i think its the unpasturized you cant have!??

Is he right? Is my baby ok?

yeah, faye83 is right... just stay away from unpasteurized milks and cheeses! The bacteria in them can be deadly to a growing fetus. Also, you want to avoid lunch meats unless you heat them up, and canned tuna is another one to be weary of because of the traces of mercury. Here... go to this website, it gives you a wonderful list of FOODS TO AVOID:

just remove the space between "american" and "pregnancy"

Pasteurized & Ultra-pasteurized are good. Not pasteurized is bad! you are ok! The difference is that with the process of pasteurization, the microorganisms that are living in the milk are killed and that's good cause these microorganisms can be carrying some disease/virus. That's the same reason of why they tell you to stay away from soft cheeses (ie: brie, some goat cheeses, etc)
