Perineal Massage??

I was just doing some research on them and I'm wondering if it was effective for you some of you? Did you still tear, or need an episotomy? Or was it able to prevent the need for one?

I've been trying to do it with vitamin E oil as my midwife said it helps...but it's too slippery and I can't reach haha
