Pest Control Use During Pregnancy

Hi,

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with our second child. We use a service called Venture Pest Control that sprays inside and outside of our house to control ants, fleas, ticks, fire ants, spiders, wasps, and crickets. They came and sprayed today, both inside and outside, and when they left I started to panic about the safety of it! This was something I never thought twice about in the past, but now that I am pregnant I worry about everything!! The company assures me that what they use is safe. Their words to me were that the spray is strong enough for bugs but not strong enough to harm humans. We have a dog and a 2 year old son, and they said it was safe to use around both of them. My son and I were home at the time of the application. They go around each room of the house and spray along the base boards, and the spray dries within 10 minutes. There is no smell, and the person applying the spray does not wear a mask. They said it was safe for us to be home. So, I'm here to ask all of you, was this ok? Will my unborn baby be ok? If they say it is safe, is it really? Thanks so much for all of your input!!

NO it is not safe for you your son or even your dog! That is a JOKE that he even said it was safe as it is a pestiside!!!!! NO pestisides are safe and they do NOT keep all that out of your home either! that is too funny yhey say it will do something with all those things! Anything put on the outside of your home the rain will wash away and anything on the inside would ahve to have a chemilcal strong enough to last to kill anyhting that touches it, which means it HAS to be toxic!!!

I suggest washing all your baseboards with vineger water solution half and half and use latex gloves to do it then wipe them down with linsead oil you find at yoru local hardware store. Then I would never spray again! You know you should get a book called the green child or green living I think it is called. IT has safe ways to keep things out.

CAll them and ask the ingredients of the solution! They by law ahve to disclsoe it to you then look up each one on the internet! You will be shocked! Most of them are nerve toxins!!

You know they have chemically treated wood to prevent bugs and rot and it has similar and even some of the same chemicals in it that they used on yoru home and it is never to be burned, used in a home becasue of build up of chemicals in the air and can NOT be used on playground equipment at play grounds of schools. That should tell you something right there. Also any chemicals used in the home build up without fresh air ventilation each day and become very toxic. Youare to watch basic leaners and paint when pregnant whicvh you can touch with skin contact usually so why would a toxin that you are not to touch ever be safer or safe in general? IT has warnings on the canister label! You also have to have a sticker on the van somehwere to even carry it around in that quantity! Ever toxin or chemical you breath touch, injest gets to baby an staying in your body and babies body. Those things are ntoand never have been safe!

It is safe as long as not ingested during the 10 min it takes to dry. We use something similar in our home and use it specifically bc it is even safe for our dogs to be around it. Since you did not touch it while it was wet during those ten min it's nothing to worry about
