Positive Antibody Screen - Worried

My doc's office called me on friday and said that I have to see the specialist on monday because I had a positive antibody screen and that my body is attacking the baby.  I'm only 8 weeks but I'm very scared that I already miscarried.  I know all pregnancies are different but will all my previous pregnancies I have thrown up excessively, with this one I'm nauseated but no puking.  Has anyone had anything like this and delivered a healthy baby?  Any experienced information is appreciated.

Well I know once your body has the antibodies it is impossble to get rid of them. The only thing that can be done is for them to monitor you during your pregnancy and if it gets too bad they can so transfusions to the baby for anemia. Theyll also give the shots to keep your body from making more antibodies.

sorry, It is the anti-D antibody. I have negative blood and my husband has positive blood so I am sure that is a factor.  I do know that my child is at risk for hemolytic disease due to my antibodies attacking the baby's red blood cells but other than that I don't know anything about it.

Are you Rhesus D negative and your baby RhD positive? If so then that is the reason why the antibody screen is positive (and usually tested so early). Usually you will be administered several anti-D prophylaxis during the course of the pregnancy. What are the Rhesus groups (positive or negative) of your other babies? Rh(D) Immunoglobulin is not given to women with preformed anti-D antibodies.

Or is may be ABO or other antigens on the red cell surface. If you have more info let us know.

out of curiosity, what sort of antibodies? RH or ABO? I just delivered at 39wks and they didn't realize it but I was producing ABO antibodies that were attacking my son's red blood cells....luckily the only ill effect was jaundice which he's being treated for.
