Possible Miscarriage

My LMP was 06/12/09 and I should be 5wks 3 days today. On Sunday (5wks) I had some small amount of brownish blood come out and decided to go to the ER, since over the last 3 yrs we have miscarried 3 times. So being a bit parnoid we go to the ER, they couldn't confirm a miscarriage or not. My hcg levels were good at 8900, but the ges sac was to small to measure so no fetal pole to see, well monday my doctor read the reports and said not to worry I may be off on my date. I'm absolutely positive of my LMP. My doctor tested my hcg levels again on Monday and I got the results today over 16000, she is sure I'm ok, but I'm confused shouldn't they have been able to measure and tell me how far I looked? I did have a vaginal ultrasound. I go again tomorrow for more blood work and next tuesday for another ultrasound. Has anyone been through anything like this?

Well All,

I just had my ultrasound this morning and the results show a healthy baby measuring 6wks 4 days and I got to see the heartbeat. Still concerned with the brown discharge. But this is still great news, on all 3 other miscarriages they could not see a heartbeat or fetal pole and today was a blessing.

We did an ultrasound at 6 weeks post LMP and could only see a gestational sac. couldnt see foetal pole or heartbeat. doctor said it is to early to hear HB and things are fine. scheduled another scan on 29th.

Well all I got my hcg levels back on yesterday's test and they went up from 16000 to almost 23000. Have ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday, these next few days will be hell waiting. I'm really scared to find out that I'm miscarrying again. Still no more discharge and no pains. Still wish I knew how far along I really am. Not sure if my hcg levels are ok since they didn't completely double.

It may have been too early to see enough to measure. I had my first appointment at 7 weeks 3 days I believe, and you could barely see anything via the vaginal ultrasound. You may have ovulated later in your cycle, the farther along you get will make it easier to measure. It's a good sign that your levels are still going up.

hi, sorry to hear your having a rough time, im going through the same, i am 6 weeks and 3 days, i had an ultrasound internal scan when i was 5 weeks as i had terrible right side pain and brown bleeding, she saw no baby, had bloods done to check levels, then again 2 days later, my levels have doubled, had another appointment for a scan, she saw a baby but it was ever so little even then se still wasnt convinced it was a baby, since then i have been bleeding fresh bright red blood, with terrible back ache, a little cramps but nothing bad. i have another scan on tuesday to see whats happening, i hate waiting left in limbo not knowing, my midwife is useless, no one seems to care at my gp surgery, and im sick of travelling miles for an early pregnancy unit. DRVING ME MAD.
It surprising how a week or so makes alot of difference on a ultrasound, i dug out a old scan from my son at 7 weeks, could see alot more than u do on my one now, all it looks like its a black hole with a spec of white inside it.
Keep me posted on how ur getting on. all the best x
