Postpartum

Hi ,
I gave birth to my little one on 10/10/10. She is doing well. I had vaginal delivery and everything went well. I have a doubt that, complete bed rest is necessery during postpartum? In my country people says like we have to take rest atleast 1 month. But what i read in internet is , if you are comfortable in doing something do it. Its all depend upon your mood. i didnt do any heavy work. but i went for shopping 3 days after delivery. im doing my household activities. can you pls advise?

My dr had told me no sex or excercise for the first 6 weeks. Other than that I would do what you feel up to . Take your cues from your body if you have pain or are exhausted then stop and rest. I was out running errands again around 4 days after the baby was born. Congratulations on your baby!

It is important to give you body time to heal, but if you have the energy and are not experiencing pain, then your body should be able to handle light activity.  Personally, I wouldn't do a lot of walking and lifting during the recovery period.  It does take several weeks for everything to heal properly, especially if you had an episiotomy.  Your doctor can guide you on any limitations.
