Pregnancy test advice

Hi. About 7 days after the finish of my girlfriend's last menstrual cycle, we had intercourse during the night, after which she started bleeding and exhibiting the symptoms of an early period the morning after.
We had intercourse again about 36 hours after, unprotected, with ejaculation.
She was supposed to have taken an EC pill for safety, but for various reasons, that didn't happen.
Her bleeding ended after 3 days, and for the duration of the bleeding she acted and felt exactly as though she was menstruating.
21 days after the intercourse, she has visited a medical practitioner to be checked on due to severe abdominal pain which has been going on for months, and getting more and more intense in the past month. She was previously diagnosed with femoral hernia, but was advised during this consultation that it is unlikely that the pain is due to that, but more likely due to a cervical bruise that was detected on ultrasound.
I am assuming our intercourse was unhealthily rough and may have triggered her bleeding.
In addition, she took a pregnancy test at the doctor's office, which registered positive.
Can you advise me as to how likely it is for this test result to be accurate after such a short duration? She has not had her period since then (her usual cycle is around 30 days, and her last 'certain' period ended around the 17th of august).

If it was positive at the doctors office then they probably scheduled her for an ultrasound to confirm and check to make sure baby has a heartbeat and is growing like it should be. Does she have another appointment soon? Like previous poster said buy a test if u just want to make sure.
