I have been on Metformin ( a GYN drug that induces ovulations...basically makes you extra fertile.  I went on it when I was so completely stressed that I stopped ovulating for one month) and now my period is a bit late.  Its usually on time and I took a test two days ago at my 7th day of missing my period and it came back negative.  However, I have been researching and some will take a test one day and then a few days later it comes back positive.  My breast are a TINY bit sore, no nausea yet and with the insomnia..I have a Dx sleep disturbance and am currently taking Ambien.  However, if I am in fact pregnant, I need to find out asap so as to get off any medication that may be harmful to the zygote.  I could use some guidance and/or advice....

metaformin doesn't help with ovulatation it helps to regulate your hormones so that you can have normal cycles.  Clysta is right it's used for women that have PCOS.

Metformin is generally used in women that have PCOS or is a medicine used for diabetic people. Do you normally have regular cycles? It's strange for your doctor to have you take that just because you didn't ovulate one month. Every female will have a time where she doesn't ovulate one month for various (or no) reasons. How long ago did you take this, and are you still on it?
