Pregnant and addicted to percocet

Hi everyone. Ok so I am addicted to precocet 30mg I have been for about a year now I take 3-4 daily, I just recently found out that I am pregnant (10) weeks to be exact. I am so scared that I can harm my baby. I tried to stop cold turkey and had WD, cold and hot sweats and shaking. I have an app set up with my doctor in two weeks and I plan on telling her everything. I also did some research on this and was petrified with some of the results. I do not want to harm my baby, I only want what is best for him/her. If anyone can give me some advice as to what I should do it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration. Please do not judge me, I want to get off these badly but don't know what is the safest way.

I agree with everyone else, but I would call the doctor in the morning (or monday morning) and be honest with them. Tell them you are in your first trimester and you are taking medications (you dont have to disclose the actual medication over the phone if you dont feel comfortable). Tell them you would like an appointment sooner to discuss the medication because you are aware that it is not safe to take while pregnant.

I was taking medications that were also unsafe for a pregnancy, I was able to get an appointment the next day to discuss this because my medications were category D, and I could also not stop taking them cold turkey (they were heart medications).

They will likely half that dose and tapper you off if you are having withdrawls. That or they may put you on a similar medication if they feel the percs are too much of a risk.

You can do this

To get answers right away you can talk to a pharmacist about quiting clod turkey. I don't know about that med but just stoping some could hurt you and baby. Try not to worry I was on a mood stablizer for tha first 5 days the they switched to 5 different ones. About a month later I found out I was and had to go cold turkey because I couldn't keep them down. With 2 I was told not to go without because of withdrawls. I was lucky enough not to have any but I think I was not on them long enough. But my point it i'm 22 weeks and have had 3 ultrasounds and everything is fine. Try not to worry that will only hurt.

FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether Percocet is harmful to an unborn baby, but it could cause breathing problems or addiction/withdrawal symptoms in a newborn . Before you take Percocet, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Acetaminophen and oxycodone may pass into breast milk and could harm a nursing baby. Do not use Percocet without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Definitely be honest with your Dr. The withdrawal isn't good for baby either, so they'll work with you to get you help so you're clean and have a healthy baby. Kudos to you for being willing to change for the health of your baby! And best of luck to you and your little one. :)

Talk to your dr about how to stop taking it safely. Most dr's drug test so if you keep taking it and your baby is affected by it they will find out and a social worker will be involved. You're still at the beginning and have plenty of time to get off it. Good luck.
