Premature babies

Is premature birth genetic or does it just depends on how your body deals with the pregnancy and everything? I was 4 days premature, my little brother was 6 weeks premature and my babies father was 5 weeks. I have a sneaky feeling she's going to get here early so I'm just trying to prepare

It depends on how your body deals with pregnancy. I kept a steady job as a waitress (exercise) and ate decently well. I never ate too much junk food or fast food. But now I'm on bed rest and being monitored due to pre eclampsia. I'm 33+5. Never had any issues till this popped up. GD and Pre Eclampsia can happen to anyone at any pregnancy for no reason. I will be induced at 37 weeks. (If my body makes it that far along.)

One of my aunts was over due by 5 days, my mom had my brother and I on our due dates and my other aunt had all 3 of her kids premature. Both my first aunt and mom kept extreemly healthy, walked daily didn't eat junk food took care of themselves and my other aunt was anorexic through her pregnancies and she never too care of herself. I don't think it's genetic I think it's just how you take care of yourself. I suppose it may be genetic if your family doesn't carry well though I guess it just depends on WHY they delivered early.

It's not genetic, I was born premature and I've asked my doctor this also just to make sure.
