Sushi

I've seen questions posted before but can't exactly remember the responses. I love Sushi, I also know it's on the list of things considered high-risk in pregnancy. I don't have an appointment with my doctor for another 3weeks so I thought I'd ask on here.. if I make sushi from scratch at home, is it okay to eat if eaten straight away? It's one of the main things I've steer cleared on during pregnancy. Also, it wouldn't be raw foods in the sushi, it would be cooked.. but what about tuna from the tin? I've read that's okay to eat during pregnancy but not actual raw fish.. sorry if it seem like common sense, I'm just not really sure and want to see what others say.. thanks in advance :)

No raw fish, and no fish egg sushi. I was sad when i found out i couldn't have some of my favorite rolls, one of which is the orange roll and has masago (flying fish eggs) on it. My hubby was a sushi chef, so he would be better to ask which ones have "safe" ingredients. Buy a respected brand of tuna and you are on the right path.

I ate sushi, I don't feel guilty but it's not for everyone. The sushi I ate was really fresh, the way I figure it is a couple million pregnant Japanese women can't be wrong they eat it (fish, sushi included) as as main staple. If they all had miscarriages and birth defects I think we'd here more about it. Again don't feel bad, but I know some would.

So far when I crave sushi, I only eat the ones with just veggies in it. No raw fish.

I asked my dr about it and she said sushi is fine as long as nothing raw is in it.

I believed canned tunas are okay but in very limited moderation. Like, no more than 6oz a week or something like that.

You also have to make sure that the type of fish you use doesn't have high levels of mercury
