Progesterone Supplements

If you are on progesterone supplements and have an early miscarriage, would the progesterone prevent you from bleeding until you stopped them? In other words, can I be confident that since I haven't had any spotting or bleeding that I have not miscarried, even though I'm on progesterone supplements?

My doctor said it won't stop you from miscarrying if there is something wrong with the pregnancy and the miscarriage would happen as if you weren't on the progesterone. But some women who miscarry do not know it until they have an ultrasound and find it. Not everyone miscarries naturally unfortunately. Probably not the answer you were looking for.

How far along are you? I'm on Prometrium myself and have made it to almost 12 weeks. I have my first trimester screening and ultrasound Thursday morning. But I have seen our baby on ultrasound several times and finally started feeling movement a few days ago. Good luck with your pregnancy!

With my miscarriages they were all early and my hCG would reach 2000 or not quite and then drop and I'd start bleeding. Good luck at your ultrasound! I was so worried. I had my first scheduled when my hCG reached 1500, by the time I had it I was only 5 weeks and my levels were 5500. We only saw a sac that day. I went back a week later and there was a baby and a heartbeat!

Thank you, that's the best I can hope for I guess :) I'm just over 5 weeks now and my first ultrasound is just over a week away, so hopefully we'll get to see the heartbeat that day! I'm trying not to worry, but it's hard because I'm having basically no symptoms other than breast tenderness. Of course, I think it'd be great to have a pregnancy without nausea but it certainly would reassure me that my hcg is still rising if I had it. I just have to remind myself that even if things weren't going well, there's nothing I could do about it anyway so I just need to be patient until my first ultrasound, but that is so much easier said than done!
