Im glad progesterone is making you feel better.the discharge is normal.its gets worse throughout pregnancy.as for ultra sounds 12weeks is the norm, unless you have recurrent mc i myself have been having regular one since we first found out at 5 weeks.due to previous problems.there is no harm in having these, you can pay to have them privately.depending where your from, but to get the best pic etc I would wait until your 12 week scan.
Hi Ladies, I just had to update that the progesterone suppliments ARE actually making me feel better.. my cramps are much much lesser in intensity and frequency, i only get an occassional one randomnly during the day.. ( earlier I was getting them at night as well, or maybe they were strong enough to wake me up)
One thing which I do notice is once a day around late evening, I get a sudden thin watery discharge, is it common during the use of progesterone vaginally?
My doctor has suggested the first ultrasound at 12 weeks, I would have personally wanted one earlier at 8 weeks :( ... Are ultrasound scans a thing to be avoided as much as possible, or else if there is no harm in the scan, I would love to have an initial one, dont want to wait uptil 12 weeks are up, I am only starting my 7th week tomorrow!
I am full of questions these days, please excuse another one.............how long does the mucous plug take to be completed? In other words, do the white discharges ever stop?
Most doctors perscribe progeterone to be vaginally, this is the only way in the uk we use them.I spent the first 16 weeks on cyclogest,400mg twice a day.and that was yuk constant patches in underwear from leaking.definately agree with blugenie, about wearing a pad.another way of using them,is first thing in morning get up have pee.put one in and go back to bed for little while.then at night put one in before bed.that way they can dissolve better inside you, rather than getting up.walking round soon as you have used them.its very normal to have cramping etc in early pregnancy and throughout.good luck to you.
thanks everyone for responding! It helps to know that progesterone supplements were taken by you all... although my doc asked me to use them vaginally instead of oral.. i called her today and she again told me to take vaginally.. the reason being that it is supposed to be more effective that way..
I actually have 2 fibroids around my uterus... one is 5 cm and the other is 3.5cm.. and because my uterus is cramping a lot, the progesterone is supposed to quieten the uterus..
I started with the first capsule today, thanks for the pointer blugenie, it does feel yucky!
hope the cramps go away soon now! :-)
I haven't taken that type of progesterone supplements, but I did take Prometrium supplements vaginally for the first 10 weeks. I had an IUI, so it was standard procedure at my doctors. Its icky though(kind of like cottage cheese discharge...wear a panty liner!!!)
Have they checked your progesterone? Menstrual type cramping is normal and not a reason to take progesterone.
If your progesterone is lower than 20 then definitely take progesterone supplements. I took Prometrium by mouth.
I have not had this medication, but my Dr did put me on an oral progestrone medication after having a MC at 3 months, and a new pregnancy within 2 months to help the baby implant better. i did'nt MC or have any complications so it helped me.
I would say if you have had no reason not to believe or have faith in your doctor before, the meds. are probably safe. I have no experience taking that but call your doc's office and ask them some questions to ease your mind. i.e. what is the purpose of them... what are the side affects... when should I be alarmed if "this" happens.
