How soon can you hear heartbeat?

Last week I had my first OB visit at 9w2d but we couldn't hear the heartbeat (I know it was early) so she told me to come back this week to see if we can hear it. I'm going tomorrow and I'll be 10w4d tomorrow. Is it possible to hear it tomorrow? Just wondering how early others have heard the heartbeat. Thanks!

I just wanted to let everyone know that we went today and to my surprise, we actually were able to hear the heartbeat!! It was ticking away at 172 beats per minute!! It was so reassuring to actually get to HEAR it!!

Latrice414: Where can you rent a doppler? I didn't know you could rent those!!

I had an early u/s and I measured 7w5d and I saw the heart beat at 147 beats per minute!! However, tomorrow I'm going in to see if we can hear it on the doppler. During my u/s, the tech did say that my uterus is tilted, but she didn't say if it's tilted backward or forward. I'm just hoping I get to hear it tomorrow. I had a m/c this past Nov so I'm being a little paranoid. However, I know that we still may not hear it tomorrow. It's still early. My pants are definitely getting tighter, so at least thats a good sign!!

Did you see it on the U/S, is so i would not be too concerned. Sometimes it is hard to find so early, especially with the baby moving all the time. My dr said what the heck, lets try and see, i was 9 weeks, and we did detect it, and 5 seconds later, the baby moved. I did end up renting a doppler after that, and at 10 weeks i was able to hear it but it took me 30 min to find it. And now when i use it, it takes about 10-15 min.  Let us no how the appt goes 2mrw

It really depends. I found it on a doppler at 8 weeks but I went in today for an u/s and I a little bit further along than I think or I just have a big baby...with my son they didn't try to look for it until 14 weeks because my uterus is tilted toward the back so it would be harder to find. But it's possible to hear it now...just don't be disappointed if you don't hear it quite yet! =) Good luck

i am 9w 6days and yesterday i went to my doctors and we used a doppler after an hour of looking we did find it but it was very hard and my doc let to know that normally with a doppler you wouldn't be able to hear until 11-12 weeks (so if you do hear it early its out of luck) good luck

Most OB's wont try until 12 weeks since it may be hard to find any earlier. If we are talking about an ultrasound, you should be able to SEE the heartbeat by now.

Are you talking about on an ultra sound or just the doppler?
