Question for those who've recently had a baby (last 6 mo)

Ok, this is for those of you who have had a baby or been preggo in the last 6 months.  Did you get on any form of BC. and if NOT,

Has your DH or BF or significant other gotten paranoid that your gonna get preggo again soon?

I'm only on the VCF (foam)  and have used it religiously. I have begun to take more vitamins, simply because it is helping my back pain. I am taking prenatals (since there are more vitamins in them, and Calcium supplaments)
Yesterday DH pops off with "I don't want you drinking any alcahol in case you get pregnant. and I won't drink it either"

I said, What do you mean? I'm not pregnant and don't plan on being preggo anytime soon.  then he said "JUST Incase, I don't want you drinking anything... if you do get pregnant I want the baby as healthy as possible."
TheN I asked him if he thought I'd done something to cause TJ to have the problems he does and he said definitely NO.

Today I asked him" Do you think I'll end up pregnant here soon?" and he said YES.... I asked why and he said he just does... He didn't seem mad or scared, but it was interesting to say the least. My son TJ will be three months old the day after tomorrow. I had a csection (and already have a %50 of another one for health reasons) but want to officially try for #2 in June or July of 2009.

The mirena has hormones, try the copper IUD, that's what I had and no side effects whatsoever and no hormone rollercoaster.  I can't handle hormones either.  I got bald patches all over my head when I was on the pill, NEVER again! I had to get cortizone scalp injections so my hair would grow back.  I HIGHLY recommend the Paragard (Copper IUD), your other doctor may be making more money on the Mirena but you should ask for the Paragard if you take that step.
BTW The copper IUD does not make you gain weight at all.

I wouldn't trust my husband with birth control, only because he may never stop taking a male BCP, he'd probably like it too much.
Well I don't have kids yet, I'm hoping that this is my month and I will be pregnant again this month and hopefully I can carry to term.  For some reason my husband has been having "baby fever"  and commenting about how cute his friends babies are and he's been dropping his pants on cue when I say, "I'm Ovulating!"  He's also scared sh!tless if I were to get pregnant even though he wants kids.  I think he's perfectly happy with just our 2 dogs :P

why isn't there any b/c for men?????? that's so not fair to us. they should have to take a little pill every single day at the exact same time, go get a shot in the *** once a month, go have a ring or copper wire or plastic tube shoved up inside them and then gain weight, get horrible pms/moodswings or bleed for 6 months....THEN say something to us....

Thanks ladies. I have ANOTHER obgyn who would probably do the mirena... What i really wanted after TJ was the copper IUD.

I hate how hormones affect my body... I know I only put a couple of reasons. But it affects my whole life. It kills my sex drive, give me worse migraines/pms...
and I seem to get bad side effects.

I think that if anything I'm going to give condoms or something another chance...but I'm completely against anything with hormones for now. :)

Riot~ I WISH we could tell our bodies that.... So does DH. He said if there was a BCP for MEN he'd take it. :)

It seems like my question led us all off topic.. lol, I was just curious to see if anyone's DH felt like another baby was gonna be on it's way soon. :)

I wanna get the mirana thingy.
I'm also paranoid of getting pregnant again. LOL

I dunno why your doc won't give you the mirana.
My sister back home in Massachusetts is only 16, and her doc said he'd give her the mirana, cuz that's what she wants.
Omg if I get pregnant again that will TOTALLY f*ck my world.
lol

I have everything planned around Ivy, I can't plan around another one.
Not right now.
I wanted to go to college this fall, but I couldn't because of Ivy.
And so I wanna go next fall-
Ivy will be almost a year old, it'll be fine.

Ugh.
Don't you just wish you can pick and choose if you wanna get pregnant or not?
Like say, "Okay I don't wanna get pregnant right now."
And your body won't send down no eggs.
And then when you're ready just be like, "Okay, I'm ready for another baby."
and BAM!
Your pregnant next time your send your bed squeeking.

LOL

God if it were only that easy.
If LIFE were that easy...

lolol

DS is almost 7 weeks old now. We've decided to stick w/condoms, at least while I am breastfeeding. BCPs and the like often interfere w/breastfeeding & milk supply even when they claim not to. My body has been through enough in the past year! lol.... DH is fine with it. It works for us; we used them for a year between the time I stopped BCP and when we started ttc. After awhile it's just not a big deal and you learn to forget that it's even there. Besides, we have a newborn - sex is very rare these days anyway! :)

It's natural for your man to be concerned about another pregnancy, but just keep assuring him that you're on the same page as far as prevention until next summer. If he keeps on it, tell him it's offensive and to back off. You know what you're doing. In the meantime, enjoy yourself and TJ before you've got our hands full with a new one again!

i've been rereading some peoples posts about the mirena....when did you start to gain weight with it? was it right away or after time? i REALLY don't want to gain weight considering i'm trying to loose it ( i work out 3-5 days a week for 1-2 hours each time and i watch every thing i put in my mouth....i'm not used to being this heavy.....)

ohhh my twins just turned 3 months old 2 days ago!!! YAY! lol. after i had the boys i used yaz for an entire week (it dried up my milk almost completely and i'm STILL having milk issues) then i was on arrin (a progesterone only pill) but i got sick of having to take it at the exact same time every day (i'm bad with remembering stuff like that) so i got the mirena put in almost 2 months ago.it's been great. dh and i used condoms for about 3 weeks but now we don't and i'm not preggo. if you get something like mirena it is uncomfortable getting it put in and you have af like (very mild af like) cramping and irregular bleeding and spotting for up to 6 months then from 6-12 months it's supposed to be very light af and after 12 months still light or no af at all. and it lasts for 5 years (or sooner if you do want another).

i do still take my prenatals for the milk i do produce for the boys not to mention it keeps my nails growing like crazy and my hair super awesome.

My son will be four months old on the 22nd, I am currently taking birth control pills, I don't like the pills but I am a little paranoid about an IUD and I dont' want the shot, I've known several people who have not been happy with it.. as far as just using condoms we dont think thats "safe" enough.. i want more kids eventually but definately not this close in age.. my mom had me and my sister 10 months apart.. its nice being close but from what my mom says it was very hard on her body and that she wouldn't recommend it.. my husband is VERY paranoid about another pregnancy, even with me taking my pills regularly we know nothing is 100% but we've decided to try to prevent it the best we could till a later date..

I've never had any kids and I had a copper IUD for 2 1/2 years, I didn't have a problem conceiving the first time after I got it taken out and embedding is very very rare.
I got the IUD because at the time I didn't want to get pregnant and I asked about whether I needed to have kids before getting one and my doctor explained that if you've never had kids the chances of expulsion are greater, meaning your uterus might push it out because its a foreign object.  Mine never came out and I will definitely use it again after I have my kids.

I JUST had my copper IUD placed and researched it endlessly and questioned doctors I don't even see. I even called offices back in the lower 48s and asked random nurses and doctors. LOL. These cases where it imbeds itself or floats off are few and far between. You also have follow up appointments where they make sure that it doesn't imbed or that you didn't lose it. My body literally cannot adjust to extra hormones that other bc have.

I like it. My menstrual is still normal too. It's not heavier and the cramping to me is normal. Before I had it put in, our form of bc was pulling out and saying a prayer. LOL. My son is 2 1/2 months old.

Thanks ppl. I had decided NO mirena due to the hormones, (yes it's a LOW dose but so is Nuvaring and I gained weight with it.)

and as for the copper IUD the way it was explained to me was that it could imbed itsself in my uterus or cause scarring that would lead to a M/Can

Hi,

I would look into finding a doctor that will put in a copper Paraguard iud.  I only had 1 child at the time and i was 26 at the time.  I  also had a problem with the hormones and weight gain..  My body cant handle anything with hormones in it.  The copper iud doesnt have any hormones in the only really bad side effects are more cramping and heavier periods.

Good luck
Karen

We used a natural family planning method and have never used anything other than condoms during the times we REALLY didn't want to get pregnant.

wow i can not beleive your doctor will not do the mirena.  here is MASS a doctor will use the mirena after after one baby.  would you think about getting a second doctors opinion or even your regulars PCP's advice?

ashiepooh~ Hormonal BC is OUT of the question for me. I gained 50 lbs on Depo shot and another 15 or so on the Nuvaring. They tried nuvaring on me for 3 mo. to see how I liked it before I had TJ.  and it was ok, but I hated gaining weight. (my highest was 192 at about 5'7)  and Supposedly the Nuvaring has even LESS hormones than a LOW dose pill.
Plus, I get migraines and they just get worse on it. Among other things.

my OBGYN will NOT put an IUD or mirena in until I've had at least 2 kids, and preferably 3.... I'm fine with that. I want to have 3 babies total.
I know he cares, but he'll REALLY stress out too. (he said "oh god my life is over with tj")

As for condoms we BOTH hate them. I can feel it and it makes things harder on himd... in a not good way. :)

same for pull out. it's just not asmuch fun. I wouldn't mind if I get pregnant in the next 7-8months.... But it may be tough on my body.

and it's not lke I'm a teen.. Ill be 22 saturday, and we've been married 3 yrs together almost 6!
I figure if it fails it fails. I dont' want to use anything else, AND i'v e been using it PERFECTLY. :)  But I don't think DH would take it too great. :) he's even threatened that after baby #2 or 3 he's going to get a vasectomy.  at least those are more easily reversed.

i had a baby in may, she is 6 months. well to my suprise in sept i found out that we are again expecting. huge suprise to us!! we are happy and we welcome it but we were not trying for another baby so soon. we actually used a condom, i was not on BC. after i have this baby i will probably get an IUD. i had a lot of problems in the past with BC so i would prob not go that way. hopefully all goes the way you'd like. congrats on ur new baby!! take care!!

Well I had a copper IUD and I honestly think that it was wonderful while I had it.  The best is that you don't have to remember to put anything in, no side effects since there's no hormones or bad chemicals involved.
I wouldn't trust the foam plus, if you do get pregnant, there's some harsh chemicals there that could affect the pregnancy, in my opinion not based in fact.  I'm always paranoid of chemicals.  I switched to natural deodorant because of "chemicals".
I know they say that the pull out method doesn't work, but it did for me for two years before I got the IUD.
I think its normal for him to be a little paranoid, I don't think that he would hate it if you got pregnant again, maybe that's why he wants you to stay off alcohol, but its been an intense time for you both so I'm sure he wants to take every extra precautions.  All men are paranoid anyways.

Ok, so I haven't had a baby or popped in the past 6 months.  But I just wanted to tell you, you may want to get on some birth control if he is thinking like that, and you want to wait till June or July.  I had 2 back to back pregnancies, and it was awesome, but a bit hard!

But to say the least, it sounds like he cares a lot, and just wants to make sure everything would be perfectly fine if you did get pregnant!  Sounds like you have a good man!
