Test preformed during pregnancy?

Not sure what the test is called but it detects of your baby is okay or if your baby has downsyndrome. I was just wondering what they do to test it? Is it safe? Do y'all recommend it? Can they just do a sonogram to detect it or do they have to put something in me? I got my appointment in few days and I wanted to know the exact details.

I got it done with both my last and this pregnancy . Last ultrasound , they only had to do an ultrasound and found he didn't have it or nothing wrong with him . This pregnancy , they did an ultrasound and he didn't have it but he did have a blockage of the bladder at first so they did it by bloodwork and he still didn't have it . I got mine done at 12 weeks for both my pregnancies . They do them by ultrasound where I live unless there's something wrong .

Im honestly not going to get one.  If anything comes back that there is a chance my baby can have down syndrome then im just going to be stressed my whole oregnancy worrying about my baby.  I think of it as the Chinese gender calender.  Regardkess of what it says it can go 50/50.  Id rather not be stressed out because their technology isnt high enough to truly detect it, because either way im keeping my baby so im not gonna bother with information that is probably wrong and will just stress me out.

They do both the blood draw and ultrasound. It's not harmful to either of you and its not 100% accurate

Theres a test they do to screen for down syndrome that is done by puncturing your belly and womb with a giant needle. It carries a risk of causing an abortion and is wrong more times than right.

They Draw Your Your Blood N then if it's negative they don't do anything if it's positive they will do an ultrasound I personally don't recommend it just because that test has a high rate of false positive I didn't have it done with my daughter an I did not do it again with my unborn son... it's just my opinion though I've to many stories of women who get it down an for a long time they think there baby has down syndrome because the test was positive an there baby cam out fine.  But it's up to you an how you feel about it

I just got it done last week first they take you in for an ultrasound to measure the skin on the back of the neck.! You get those results asap! Then they bring you in the room to tell you the results also regular questions then they draw 2 tubes of blood and thats it you go home. Takes a week for them to call you when your results get in..

So when I had mine it was called a Quad screening and done at 14-15 weeks. This was just through drawing my blood. Its totally safe for you and baby. It just looks for genetic factors which can suggest downs and neural tube defects. It is NOT 100%. It's simply an early warning system so they can further watch and test as development continues.
