RANT! RUDE PEOPLE!!

So I had to run by the store after I got off work to pick up some cat food. I'm 34+4 by the way. So I grab the cat food and go get in line to check out, when it comes time for me the cashier behind the counter looks up at me and looks at the cat food and looks back at me and says, " has anyone ever explained to you about cats and pregnancy?"

All I responded with was "excuse me!?!"

I was offended and pissed off right when I heard her say that..

the lady said back to me... "I mean how cats can be very dangerous"

I'm fixing to flip out now.. I just look at her and say... " my cat is the least of any worries I have right now, she is no danger"

I'm completely livid by now just trying to stay calm...

she responds again saying "well you know cats can suffocate the baby?"

I'm about to lose it now, so I grabbed my stuff and walked out... I have never had a complete stranger **** me off as much as this lady did..
it was absolutely rude and disrespectful on her part!!! Uggggh some people!!!!

Its not the milk its the warmth of the baby that can attract them to sleep with them! But you can buy cat nets or like any good mam u just wouldn't leave a baby and your pets unattended! My mil is constantly on my case about my cat and dogs but I've had them since my first daughter was born 5yrs ago I will not get rid of them there part of the family :-)

It's not a jealousy issue with cats that make them cause suffocation. It's because they smell the milk and want to nestle by that smell. Then the cat litter issue still of course. People are rude, and they loose all common sense when they see a pregnant woman.

Cats don't purposely suffercate babies they just smell milk on there breath and start licking the babies face trust Me hundred I had this same run in with people telling me what safe what's not safe like toxicplasmosis and about birds and everything I get pissed to cause there sitting here telling me how to raise my baby when they can't even respect the not smoking around me and they go it doesn't hurt u or the baby and I don't smoke at all in my life So I been near second hand since I was little I'm not having my little even around it or 3rd hand they don't respect that and don't understand the concept of 3d hand they just rant about how they will go outside and smoke I'm like it doesn't matter 3d hand the worst also it all in that house soon as u dot on the couch it attacks u they don't believe me though So I told them I will not be coming over there or my daughter if they want see me or my baby they have come see me where it's smoke free

I would have went ape crap on her...I have heard about cats suffocating babies but not all cats are the same...I put my cats outside but not because of that reason it was because she would not stay out of the crib and she had 5 kittens...too many in the house. We built a screened in porch and put them on it to live. That was none of her business anyway.

Lol My cats steer clear of my kids because they are a little too rough for them. However my cats also have an insane amount of patience. They'll growl and hiss at my kids if they are doing something bad thus letting us know about it (three kids hard to keep your eyes on all of 'em) so we swoop in for the rescue. Unfortunately there are occasions where the cat defends themself because one boy will be yanking on his tail. Thus there can be some scratches or a minor bite. But our cats are indoors and vaccinations are up to date and were declawed in the front. But with my two older ones the 7 & 5 year olds all I say to them while cleaning the area (no blood drawn so its just scares them if anything) "You wont do that again will you?" Call me terrible if you want, but a cat is an animal so you cant get upset if they are defending themselves.

i agree... its yur life not theirs.. everyone chooses to live differently...
nd i no im curious on how my cats are ganna react as well... theyre both pretty stuck to me... come crying to me fur me to feed them (they eat soft food cuz my mom spoils them! haha) ... nd they sleep in my room... even if theyre outside my room at night they will mess with the bottom of the door till i open it haha nd the follow me everywhere.. even wen i go to go pee!
i dnt think they would be bad cuz ive baby sat kids before nd my bigger cat was fine... we didnt have the baby at the time so idk bout her... she juss likes to bite nd scratch as playing but were ganna get her fixed around 5-6 months cuz shes still too young nd hopefully she will be more calm... my other cat calmed down alot wen we got her fixed nd thats wen she turned into a baby!

Oh boy. I understand. I have a 1year old cat and 6 year old dog and i get the same thing from people. Seriously do these people think we're not going to watch our babies. My mum had a cat when i was born and said she was very protective of me and never went in my crib. Growing up she was my best bud and i want that experience for my kids too. Just ignore what people say and try not to go ninja. Lol. Good luck mama

Yes, and I understand that... I'm already very nervous on how my cat will behave around a new baby in the house and I'm preparing myself for the worst even if I end up having to get rid of her. my cat will be almost a year old when the baby is born as well. I don't know if the cat will become jealous, I dont know if she'll become protective.. I don't know.. its all a matter of waiting to see. my cat is such a sweet cat and lives to be around people..

It just upset me most of all that how can a complete stranger butt in to my business just to make me feel worse about the situation.
