Thanks for all of y'all's responses :) I leave 2 and a half hours away! She's having surgery for gastroschisis (intestines outside of her body) . On average infants stay 40 days in the NiCU give or take a few days..
My husband and I stayed in a Ronald McDonald house when our son was born 6 weeks early at 34weeks and 2days. He had to stay in the NICU for 2weeks. It was wonderful you can come and go as you please
My uncle and his wife stayed in one here in ky for 2 weeks when their newborn had surgery and some complications, they really liked it and it was little to jo cost because it is funded from donations.
How far from the hospital do you live? Very sorry your baby will need surgery. What for? (If u dint mind me asking) ... I think it's a great way for you to be closer if you don't live close enough to the hospital to be with your child. I have never stayed in one but when my first child was born she was premature n I could only stay in the hospital for 8 days with her, then had to stay at my house n drive 1 1/2 hours to see her every day. I spent 10 hours a day in that hospital n wish I could have stayed closer by. Finally after a month she came home with me:) good luck with whatever you decide♡
