Scary medication symptoms

I am 17 weeks pregnant and have been having signs of a galbladder attack... The only problem is I had my galbladder removed 2 years ago with my first son. I went to the hospital and my dr and had blood work done for labs testing for blockage. They found nothing and said that it was acid reflux. They put me on 3 differny types of meds; ondansetron for nausea, ranitidine for stomach problems and metoclopramide to take 4 times a day 30 mins before I eat. The first two
fine with but if you look up the symptoms for the last one reading them scares me. It came with it's own print out for symptoms. It talks about abnormal muscle movements, uncontrolled spasms, depression and thoughts about suicide, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, and Parkinsonism... It also says that I might go through withdrawls once off the meds or have life lasting side effects when it comes to the spasms... On the back of the print out it clearly states, "tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, including if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if metoclopramide will harm your unborn baby." I am very unsure of what to do. I have been sick and in pain for a week now and am losing weight which is bad for me since I'm pregnant due to hypoglycemia... What should I do? Please help :(

Did you take reglan while pregnant? That's what scares me is the unknown effects on an unborn baby...

oh just to clarify...the muscle movement reaction is called an acute dystonic reaction (there's also something called tardive dyskinesia which it can cause which is different)

but it's INCREDIBLY rare...we're talking...almost no doctors have seen it because it's so rare. when I had my reaction the doctor at the ER had to get online and research because he had never seen it and neither had any of the other staffers including the on-call neurologist...so I wouldn't PANIC about it, I just really don't like reglan personally lol.

I would PERSONALLY skip the reglan. there are other meds they can give you for nausea/reflux and reglan is known to cause problems with the muscle movements...I'm living proof of it; I had a similar reaction to a similar medication and now I cannot take reglan without having a serious neurological reaction to it.

ask for something instead of the reglan if you feel you need it...but the others are fine from what I know...I'm no doctor but if it were me I'd ditch the reglan and either ask for a replacement or just stick to the other 2.

Generally drs will have you take medications when pregnant when the benefits outweigh the risks. You should talk to your dr about your concerns because no one here is a medical professional and we can not tell you whether or not to take the medication, or recommend you take anything else. I hope you start feeling better soon!
