Shower gift, did I miss anything?

So today I found out my best friend is having a baby boy and so I was thinking about shower gifts and I was wondering what you thought about the idea, if you would like that as a shower gift or not.  I was thinking of getting a diaper bag and fill it with everything you need in a diaper bag.  Like; diapers, whipes, baby powder, rash cream, sun screen, lotion, a few toys, bottles, pacifires, an outfit, and a mini first aid kit.  Anything I missed for a diaper bag?

So I went shopping today and this is what I have and it was very hard to fit it all in.

Bottles x4
Pacifire x2
Burp Cloth (That I made!)
Bib
Baby lotion
Hand sanitiser
Onesies x2
Baby Powder
Formula Holder
Hat
Toy
Book
Whipes
Diper rash cream
mini first aid kit
Pacifire clip (so handy, I don't know how many times I've been on a walk where the baby spits it out onto the sidewalk)
Socks

It was kind of expensive but worth it!

Wow...she's going to need a diaper bag with wheels attached by the time you put all that stuff in it!  The only thing I can think of that I used while out (which is only good for short trips out...say 2 to 4 hours?) is an insulated bottle holder that she can carry breast milk in. The formula holder is awesome, too, if she plans on doing the formula thing. But I breastfed the first few months, and I wasn't one to breastfeed in public. I carried pre-pumped milk in a bottle...and the insulated bag was great for a single serving.

They're around $10, though...so this is only if you want to spend the extra money.

Speaking of breastfeeding, if she plans on doing that, you could possibly add a small package of breast pads. I HATED being out doing stuff and realize I didn't have any breast pads in my diaper bag for ME!  Leaky boobs are NO fun! And a woman can go through some breast pads!

Lansinoh brand is awesome. They're individually wrapped, so if you wanted to you could buy a box and just put some in a pouch in the bag for her, and keep the rest of the box for a future "gift bag" for someone else who is expecting. Just a suggestion...

You will make a great mom someday...the kind who is always prepared! Well, that is until pregnancy brain or fatigue take over. At that point, you'll be wearing different colored socks on each foot before you know it! LOL

for a boy you might want patrolium jelly if she plans on getting him circumsized, and gauze. (my aunt said that when she changes my cousins diaper she puts a little gauze square over his weeny and then if he pees it doesn't shoot her in the face.. lol) I put those things in my diaper bag.

GRANDMATOBE~ I did get hand sanitizer and 2 pairs of socks the other day.

Joy~ Steal away!, I told her to go pick out a diaper bag she liked and tell me where and send me a picture of it and I would go get it because I wanted it for something, that way I know she will like it!

Ooh, everyone thought up good stuff that I hadn't thought up but I HAVE used in my diaper bag! Nail clippers is a GREAT call. I always clip my girls' nails when we're out and about (outside).

So far this is what others have said (and I agree with)
-burp cloths (also BIBS)
-blanket
-the formula holder (I have one and it was AMAZING)
-hand sanitizer!!!!!! I always have this one with me!
-hat, instead of sunscreen
-plastic bags (I never used them but a friend of mine did)

Now I want to make one of these! My SIL is having a baby in April. I just may steal your idea!!!

Another little "Mommy's helper" are the rolls of plastic bags, so you can put a poopy diaper in it.  They are sold in sets of three at Walmart (I think) and they are about the size of an old canister of film.  Not sure how many plastic bags are on the roll, but they come in handy.

Also, hand sanitizer and extra pairs of socks....

That sound like a great idea, make sure to include a receipt for the diaper bag though, just in case. People can be pretty picky about what their diaper bag looks like.

Babies cant wear sunscreen until 6 months by the way.

Oh I also put a toenail clipper in there because I always find hang nails and would hate to be somewhere without for a little one.  I also put a pacifire that you can put medicine in incase your out and about with a sick little one.

I was thinking about burp clothes.  I have some that I made and I can put a few in there.  I didn't know that infants can't have sunscreen, good call.  But what about like a 3 months old because that is about when she would be going out when it is sunny?

Also put burp clothes in there. The first month or so you need them where ever you go.

Wow, that's really generous of you! I would be ecstatic for such a gift personally, so I say go for it if you can afford it! Newborns can't have sunscreen so I would pass on that.

I don't think there is anything else you'd need in a diaper bag. Diapers, wipes, bottles, pacis, clothes. That's usually what I have in mine, along with first aid kit.
