Signs of preterm. (Need advice please)

I went to the hospital last night around 8:30pm due to the fact that I was having contractions the night before and was in so much pain when ever I got up to walk or would move. The nurse checked my cervix and said I was 1cm dilated and 70% effaced. She said they'll keep an eye on it because that's not usually normal with a ftm and especially at 33weeks.I was also having contractions every 4-6mins so she gave me a shot to relax my uterus and slow everything down and also gave me a steroid shot to help my baby lungs develop a bit quicker in case I do happen to have her early. My due date is March 25th and I also have to go back tonight to get the second dose of my first shot. My question is has anyone else gone through this and is the steroid shot going to affect my baby or since they slowed everything down can that affect my labor process later on? Also, when I recieve the shots my baby was SUPER active to the point where the nurse had to keep moving the monitor because of her activity. One of the side affects was that it would make me jittery like I had a cup of coffee, butbits was just cold because of the IV but I think it affected my baby more.

I had a migraine the past 3 days, idk if it was from the shots or what but when I called the doctor and the hospital they were basically saying there is nothing they can do because I'm pregnant. I tried literally everything(Tylenol and home remedies) only thing that somewhat eased it was laying in bed all day with an ice pack on my head. I also noticed my breast started leaking more and I am having contractions again but I refuse to have that shot again if it's not working and giving me this much discomfort. I honestly do think these March babies had enough and is just ready to see the world.

I continue to have contractions and just had to get a ew pain medicine to help my comfort. He is butt down and has dropped they can feel it. They said I will just continue to have contractions. And if the pain gets too bad that I need I go to Labor and Delivery. Today I've ha constant pressure in my butt and my belly tightens. My mom thinks he will be here by this weekend. I just think these March babies want out. I follow an Instagram mom that is due March 19th and has also went into preterm labor the same day I did.

Yay! Ok I feel a bit better! Thank you so much ladies! I'm glad even though your babies went through so much in the beginning they are strong and healthy now. I'd prefer for her to at least reach 37 weeks but when your baby is ready there is no stopping them. As long as she is healthy that's all that matters. The hardest part is just watching your little one have to go through so much when they are born so early. I wish you ladies luck and again thank you for the encouragement!

The steroid shot is just to strengthen baby's lungs and didn't have any negative effect on my baby at all. The doctors all expected her to be on oxygen support for at least 6 weeks but she was off and breathing on her own in just over 3 weeks. We did have a long hospital stay (just under 3 months), but that was due to other problems with her struggling to keep her feeds down when she first started feeding on her own (she was tube fed for the first few weeks because she hadn't quite got the hang of the swallowing reflex). Other than that she's done really well health wise and is now a happy, healthy 6 year old :)

Doctors told us to expect her physical development and learning to be behind most others her age, but she's now average size for her age and the highest level reader in her year at her school :)

I went into labor with my first at 28+3, had 2 shots to slow it that didn't work and the steroid shot too. With me being so early and the shots not working AT ALL, I had to stay for 2 days on an IV which temporarily stopped contractions for long enough for the steroids to have enough of an effect. Though as soon as they took me off the IV, I went straight back into full blown labor and had my daughter 8 hours later at 28+6

I'm also 33 weeks with twins. Due March 24th. I started having contractions yesterday morning. I went in and had the shots to stop contractions and also the steroid shot. I went back this morning to get the 2nd dose of the steroid shot. But I don't think there should be any side effects of the steroid. Our babies will just have super strong lungs! Congrats to you all and good luck!

I'm in the same boat as u! I'm 34 weeks and 5 days and last week I was admitted to the hospital after having bad contractions. When I was checked they discovered I was 5cm and 70% effaced. I got the shots and took the pills they recommend and stayed for 2 days in the hospital but after no change I was able to go home and rest. I went back 2 days ago with more contractions and I am now 5 and a half cm and 80% effaced. Hoping for good news at my doctors appointment tomorrw, that is if it make it that long lol

The only side effect I know of for baby from the injections is a higher birth weight, which if they come early that is a good thing. :)

She is now a strong toodler she will be 3 soon , she still has some problems but seeing her everyday makes my day shine ,

@taya096 wow we are definately in the same situation! I have to go back tonight to get the second dose of the shot to slow my contractions but I'm sorry that you have to go through all of that. When you think you have it bad someone else has it worst. Right now I'm in the process of getting my insurance switched over so I wasn't even able to be seen at my last doctor appointment and I just didn't want to keep going to the hospital if I can just go to my midwife. I hope everything gets better for you and your little one

Thank you ladies I didn't know what to think. I thought I was the only one who realized it didn't really help to much because I'm still having contractions today just not as much and not in as much pain. @Sue_2ndbabyontheway I'm glad everything is ok with your baby girl and she didn't have to have intensive care.

How ironic, I am due March 25th and have went into preterm labor twice. I have had my second dose of steroids already. They are to develop the babies lungs. The second time I went in which was 3 days ago, I had the shot twice and it didn't work. I then had the capsule and it didn't work. Next thing I know I have to have magnesium running through me for 24 hours. It made me feel like I had the flu. I'm now at home on bed rest, they're estimating for him to be here very soon. They only ran the medicine through me to delay contractions to get the steroids in. I'm 0-1 dilated and 70% effaced.
