Smoking Help!!

I found out 5-13 I'm pregnant my first drs appt is Tuesday. I'm guessing I'm around six weeks. I've been trying to quit. I don't smoke more that 6 cigs a day. Its not coming easy as I though I would be to quit cold turkey. I know I have a baby growing inside me and I need to quit. So what was helpful to you quitting? I always told myself when I found out I was pregnant I would quit instantly. Now I'm here and I need help!!! Everyone says quitting gets easier is that true? So should I just keep cutting back? I'm worried about the stress of quitting cold turkey on my baby as well.

Thanks everyone I've been smoking for about 9 years its my time to quit. Its just a challenge. No I don't wanna be that mom smoking while pregnant!  And honestly I still think I'm in shock a little! I hope my first doctors appointment will make it that much easier to quit. Once I hear the heart beat and see my little one. I might have a stick that says it my brain hasn't quite processed it 100%. But its been a dream to be pregnant for six years!! And now its game time!! Thank you ladies!!

I quit cold turkey... before pregnancy i had tried several times to quit and it was hard but i had tried counseling years back and they had told me to try and do other things when i felt the need to smoke like chewing gum or doing something with your hands to calm the anxiety it helped a lot when i found out i was pregnant

I was a smoker too. I smoked at first telling myself I would gradually slow down. I went to the doctor and was told I was threatened a miscarriage. That's all I needed to know I quit!!! Cold turkey!!! Im now 29 weeks and 3 days and cannot stand the smell of a cig ugh. Good luck. Think of your little one

I quit right when I found out...but I wasn't a big smoker so I think a huge different but don't quit cold turkey cuz u bring different body changes fast n with the baby it wouldn't be good to go through all that so reduce little by little n I'm sure u 2 will be fine good luck

I quit cold turkey. ..  I doubt its done the little bud any harm at all..
Two weeks and its still hard,
Try drinkin cold water when you crave and take a break for yourself to breath or drink water when you'd usually smoke x

I know how you feel, when I first found out I was pregnant I said yeah I'll give them up no prob, but it was hard I got the electric fag don't get the ones you put liquid in as there really bad nearly worse than cigarettes, get the other one, they look like real fags and help the cravings, it is hard but its better for you and baby, I gave up for three months and relapsed I just needed one, but if that happens to you know you tried and try again, if your partner or anyone around is smoking walk away from it or ask them not to smoke,  I tried again and have been off them now for a month, and hoping to stay off them. Every time I get a craving I just think i can't, I have to do this for my baby, well done for wanting to do this, I wish you all the best of luck, it does get easier! You should be proud! Xxx

I found out i was pregnant at 5 weeks & i was a 6 cig a day girl as well. I was also an avid coffee drinker. & i would always say if i got pregnant that i would quit. & i did. (I literally couldnt bring myself to smoke anymore so yes i quit cold turkey.) Had been a smoker for 4 years & the next month was hell. Im 26 weeks now & ive had maybe 5 cigarettes since i found out.  Now i dont even think about smoking while pregnant because when i feel her move i dont understand how people can just ignore their baby for the sake of having a smoke. Morally, who are you? The kind of mom who would risk their childs health for puffs of chemicals or someone who feels guilt? I wish you luck but i whole heatedly believe that it is you who make it tough on yourself.
