Smoking Marijuana While Breastfeeding
So my baby has been formula fed, but I want to breast feed, I'm still leaking gave birth bout 3 weeks ago. I didn't smoke my whole pregnancy. I tried breast feeding he wouldn't latch, so I gave up on breast feeding, yesterday I smoked a little bit I have been having post partum depressionso i wanted to see if it would help & it Did! But today I gave my baby a bottle of formula an hour later he was crying I didn't want to make it & him waste it so he finally latched on & sucked for about 10 min. Will me smoking effect him & are their any mom's that have smoked during breast feeding? Sorry so long
They don't drug test babies in Canada unless they think there is a reason to. That's so weird how they check almost all babies in the States.
My sister me and my husband. Were all "pot babies" if you will. Both our moms smoke pot and a three us of are fine! I live in CA where smoking weed is pretty open. I told me Dr I smoke I'm only 8 weeks along and he said fine just quit at 7 months so your baby doesn't get taken away because they drug test when the baby is born. That is the only time I will stop smoking and it isn't for the baby or my health. I have smoked pot for almost ten years. Once someone shows me legitimate hard fact of marijuana affecting an unborn fetus is when I will listen. For now I know I've fine no health problems and was a pot baby so will be my child
I think you need to talk to a different doctor then love. Talk to your close friends and family about how you feel too. I had bad depression at the start of my pregnancy. Talking about it really helps. Your doctor should be taking this seriously.
It will not hurt your baby if u smoke marijuana while breastfeeding. Not at all, and will not ruin his motor skilss.

As long as your not smoking the chemically enhanced weed that's out there these days you'll be fine. Naturally growing marijuana that hasn't had any chemicals or anything added to make it stronger is okay. Just know where you get it from. I wouldn't stress from just one time.
Once will not hurt the baby. Marijuana can travel through the breastmilk in small quantities and can ruin the baby's motor skills.
Just to be careful either breastfeed or smoke... I wouldn't do both.
Oh and talk to a doctor about your post partum depression. Its a misconception that they take away the baby just because you have some depression. I would leave out the fact that you smoked while breastfeeding though because that could cause problems.
