Okay....in PA, if they test you and baby and it comes up positive they will contact Child Services. You will be set up to where you have to take random urine test. If your urine comes up positive after that then they will take your baby. Chances are they won't just snatched your child from you at birth because of marijuana. I don't condone it but don't try to scare this out with them ripping her child away from her. This happened to someone I know...And after three months of urine tests they popped up randomly and caught this girl smoking weed in the house with the baby in the same room and STILL DIDN'T TAKE THE BABY. They made her do therapy and more random drug tests. I would assume three times is the charm and if it happened again then they would place the child. Just stop smoking weed......period. Whether it causes issues or not none of it.is.worth finding out.
She said she was going to quit. Leave her be. No one knows her circumstances. Hey Love, Try to quit the best you can. I believe if you stop soon things will be just fine. :) No one on here can judge you. :)
There are also zero conclusive studies proving any harm of moms who smoke weed. It's never killed anyone or hurt anyone. Including babies. Any testing with babies born premature etc are inconclusive because the moms smoked ciggs or took antidepressants etc. Weed doesn't cause sick babies. People who think so aren't familiar enough with the pros and cons of weed vs. Prescription drugs
It will still be in babys system anything you do after three months stays in baby's system
ok.. you just said"There is no test results that have an conclusive evidence of any harm from weed to your baby" but you tell her to quit now why should she quit if "nothing can happen" -_- don't lie to her cause if they test that baby and it has marijuana in the system the baby will be taken from her. it is cruel to put a baby threw the pain of withdraws firstly. and it has been proven to slow down growth and fetal development. I know for a fact that they test in NC because I've had 2 different obgyn's and asked what all they can see in the urine and blood tests and they both said they test iron levels, urine HGV levels and can see any substances that show up. they said they test for drug use majorly in Medicaid patients as required, and test others usually twice during pregnancy.
Check with your state laws on the matter because most if not all states it's illegal to test mother or baby for drugs unless something is seriously wrong with the child. Marijuana is all natural and although you should stop smoking as soon as possible, your child will be fine. There is no test results that have an conclusive evidence of any harm from weed to your baby. But still, quit as soon as you can.
No cause she knows its bad and stopped it doesn't just magically become safe for the baby at 22 weeks
Smoking marijuana can cause a prolonged labor, and can cause it not to progress and could cause you to have a c- section.
Im just being honest but this post seriously pisses me off. im very glad your choosing to quit smoking weed but you should have stopped when you found out you were pregnant. my mom smoked weed when she was pregnant with me and i have depression, anxiety, asthma, thyroid disease, other numerous health problems and i went through withdrawls when i was born. i was also born 2 1/2 months early and weighed 1 pd 3 oz. i fit into the palm of my moms hand when i was born. ive had so many problems bc of her smoking weed. i smoked cigarettes and when i found out i was pregnant i threw my cigs out the window. we always see the bad effects of weed and things and common sense would tell u that it will be 100x worse for ur baby.
Shoooot lol... And I felt guilty when I ate a Big Mac once early during pregnancy lol you should definetly quit for the baby, after the baby is born and you're done breast feeding i'd say go for it again.. Think of the baby, you don't want to lose the baby just cuz of a couple of hits or have a sick Child... Good luck!!
You shouldn't smoke period if your pregnant or have children it impairs your judgment along with others and affects your baby.. ^^just because one child is born without a problem doesn't mean all are would you be.willing to take the risks?? Smoking during pregnancy doesn't always cause horrible outcomes neither does drinking but would you want to chance giving your child fetal alcohol syndrome because you couldn't stop being a drunk for 9 months, or give your baby asthma, nonmatured lungs, increased risk of sids because u wanted to smoke.. there's a reason its illegal and in the states it is legal its still illegal while pregnant
Yes they do drug test medicaid or not. They do tons of blood work on your baby when it is born. You shouldn't do anything esp. If you have to question whether or not if its OK. I knew a girl who got her child taken from her for having weed in her system when the baby was born.
My mom smoked through out her pregnancy with both me & my little brother & we both turned out fine! She smoked ciggs along with the weed. We were both healthy.
I think everyone who is on WIC, state insurance, food share, or any other state assistance should be drug tested before being accepted, every couple months while on the assistance or be kicked off if failed
Bottom line is she said she's going to quit, so good for you girl!
If a mother didn't do drugs then she wouldn't have to worry about it right? She already said she quit one time and started back cause made her feel better so if she really was worried about the cops and her baby she would just stop
I live in Colorado (on of the only few states where weed is legal) and they still test every single baby because it IS illegal to smoke it while pregnant so I can only imagine they test in other states as well. Also.. Yes, weed should be out of YOUR system in no more than 60 days, but weed stays in the placenta for much longer since that's what stores nutrients and anything else you're giving the baby. If you stop now you should be fine only if you're tested at the end of your pregnancy. I had a friend who smoked while pregnant and about half way through she was tested and was told that they were going to test her at the end of her pregnancy again and if there was anything in her system then she would lose her son... She tested negative at the end of her pregnancy but her son was born with a low birth weight and is extremely colicky.
mommy1st thank you :) someone who understands a illegal drug is bad -.- there's so many people who get high to make themselves feel better and don't care it's going to hurt there baby some news the parenting classes so they don't even have to ask
^^you can't take what happened to you mom that was prob 15+ years ago and it barely costs the government anything to test, you can buy a test at some drug stores foe like 19.99 :) better than to be safe than sorry and the baby gets addicted that's a proven fact they also say it slows down growth and development of the organs
I'm from NC and yes every time you pee in a cup or get blood drawn they see everything that's in your system
I think its crazy that mommies to be are seriously asking these kinds of questions, weed is an illegal drug therefore it could be harmful towards your baby, and obviously you dont really care too much because if you have to question yourself then common sense should tell you not to do it! Idc whos feelings get hurt in this situation! If you wouldnt put it in your childs mouth dont do it!!!
Smoking weed can cause ADD or ADHD along with other mental problems. Your baby should be fine at birth but will cause problems later. Plus they started drug testing baby's at birth. And if your baby has THC in its system you can lose your child before you even go home.
ok i just asked a question thats it.. thanks for everybody and their comments
