Some help pls... pretty worried:(

So I went for my obgyn checkup today, heard the baby's heartbeat, I'm 27 weeks today and the nurse told me I have a hernia right by my belly button :(  will the hernia not grow bigger while pregnant or is there a medication to cure it?

Okay,  yeah on my next appointment I'll have a lot of questions for the Dr.  If a person gets surgery on a hernia will it not come back then anymore,  or can it still?

I understand how you tend to have more questions after leaving the doctor. At the time of the news im sure you were still processing it all and now that you've had time to think about it youre wondering about it. Hernias are very common. Some require to be operated on other dont and some they just cant operate on (not sure if that is due to risk out weighing the benefit or what). If the doctors didn't seem too concerned I would assume its not too bad. I would either wait until your next appointment and bring your list of questions then or leave a note with the nurse asking for the doctor to contact you at their earliest convenience to answer some of your questions. Dont worry too much. People get them from straining all the time. Very common in weight lifting as well. I know someone with one the size of a melon!

I have a hernia right by my belly button, too. Only a minor one. If they didn't discuss surgery, then that probably means you won't need it! Mine only hurts sometimes. It does get a little worse towards the end of pregnancy, but not too bad! Doctors will just usually leave them alone and keep an eye on them.

A hernia is when the lining holding your organs in rips open causeing one of your organs (usually intestines) to pop out.
