Sorry for all the posts! This is OT but close to me

Today a man was murdered next door to me. I didn't hear any gunshots but we had a tornado siren going off at the time of the shot. I was getting my kids ready to go to the store and as I was driving down my street, I heard sirens and saw a paramedic turn in front of the apartment building (which sits on the corner, I'm 2 lots down from the apartment building---LOTS, not blocks). Anyway, I found a piece of antique furniture and put it in my van and turned around to go back home before the store, as weird as that sounds...

And instead of turning around and going that direction, I decided to go the opposite, to see what the commotion was about. Police were taping off the entire street. Apparently a man was shot in the apartment building while visiting his friend. All I can think is, "What if they had taken this OUTSIDE and one of my babies got hit by a bullet?!?!?!?!"

Definitely, thank you guys! I don't really know why I shared this. I guess in the heat of the moment I was like, "AHhhhhhhhhh I need to tell someone!" It's just weird, too, because you also hear of these types of things happening in other neighborhoods. It was definitely disconcerting. It was probably gang-related but we don't know yet.

Wow, isn't is so crazy how things happen sometimes.  Like blueeyedtabbycat said, try not to think about what could have been!!!  Glad to hear you and your family are ok!!!

*I meant to say... I am concerned with the proximity to my house. It's not like I live in the ghetto but in the historic district of KC which is nice.

I live in KC, MO. So the shooting isn't surprising because gangs just run like crazy here. But I am definitely concerned with the proximity to my house because I live in the historic district of KC which is nice.
