Pregnancy Tests

My boyfriend and I have unprotected sex.  I have never been as late before as I am now, on Tuesday it will be two weeks.  Now, I am in a stressful environment, but I do try to remain as calm as I possibly can and just let stuff that would bother me go..  When I was supposed to have gotten my period, I was at work and inserted a tampon just to be safe because my periods are usually on time... when I am stressed the period is only a couple days off.  Well, when I got home, I removed it, and there was a very small strand of blood on it.  I have not bled since.  I sort of feel like I have the flu sometimes, not all the time: I will get cold sweats, and headaches, sometimes a little queasy, and have been REALLY hungry, and have to pee all the time.  I don't really have any other pains/symptoms than that, but about the time after I was supposed to start I did sometimes feel like a heavy bloat in my lower tummy, and sort of small cramps, like I should start my period, and yet, every morning, I woke up expecting to see blood, but there is none.  I also do believe that if you have an orgasm around the time you should start that it helps to shake loose the lining and stuff that you shed when you do have your period, and usually it hurts a little bit after the orgasm... every time my boyfriend and I have had intercourse, I have only felt that pain once, and it was very short lived, and not as intense as I know it to be.  I have taken three tests, all negative, and am seeing a doctor on Monday to find out what is really going on.  My question is, the tests all say when you can take them, but how far along in a pregnancy do you actually have to be for the levels to show?  By my calculations and understanding, it would have be about 2 weeks pregnant, correct?  But can levels all vary? I really don't understand tests, but I DO think that it should be more than a yes and no! I think if they say no, there should be a print out that explains why it answered no, like a job application, or a school test! J/K LOL... please help me to understand a little bit more about early pregnancy, and pregnancy tests.

I will also keep you updated when I get back from my Dr. appt on Monday.

AF stands for "aunt flow" or your period.

I don't mean to sound naive, but what does AF stand for?  And as far as tampons go, I haven't put in another since that day.  I have only used like panty liners to monitor/prepare if something happens at night.  Also, I scheduled a doctor's appointment with a general practitioner, not an ob/gyn.  I figure if I am, he can tell me just as well as an ob/gyn, but if I'm not, he may tell me that too.  Either way, if the doc says I am, then I will schedule for an ob/gyn appointment and go from there.  Thanks for the info!

You could be pregnant and your levels not be high enough. Put it this way, when I was 4.4 or 5 weeks pregnant, My levels measured at EXACTLY 50. Not high at all... they DID double, but still...were low. I didn't get my ++ until 2 days after AF was missed.

I'm not sure why yours wouldn't show positive this late, but it is possible that you ARE pregnant and it's just not registering. By the way, if they do a U/S they most likely wouldn't see anything for another couple weeks when your closer to 6-8weeks pregnant (if you are)  Good luck! and for goodness sake..> DONT PUT ANY MORE TAMPONS IN~!  :)
