Spotting after cervix check

I had my 36w appt today and the midwife checked my cervix. They had checked it in L&D Saturday and fourteen hours later on Sunday morning I lost my mucus plug. That's the only time I've ever had anything happen after a cervix check and the midwife said today it was my mucus plug. Anyways, an hour or so after my exam I started spotting brown and it was mucusy, but really didn't look like the stuff from the plug on Sunday. I chalked it up to my exam and put on a pad that my aunt had. I came home because I was cramping a bit and laid down. Later DH and I went to the mall for a bit and did some last minute grocery shopping. I've felt terrible all day as far as a few intense BH and horrible heartburn and nausea. Before we left to go to the mall I was still spotting brown, but just barely and there wasn't much mucus. I got home from the mall and the brown mucus was back, but as I wiped it was turning more pink than brown. Is this normal? And how long should I expect to be spotting from the exam?

Oh I know it won't cause me to go into labor, although at this point I feel like I'm ready. lol. She said it was normal to spot after the exam and not to worry, but I was wondering if it was just supposed to be for a few hours or if it lasted days. I have to admit I'm super crampy and uncomfortable tonight. :(

I had the same thing with an exam...its normal to spot especially if they are checking your cervix.
Mine ended up going away, and never progressed into labour or anything..I wish it had though.
