Spotting at 5 weeks

Hi. I am 5 weeks 2 days pregnant. Yesterday when i went to loo and wiped myself there was some watery pink blood on toilet paper. I put a pad on and expected the worst thru the night but when I woke this morning there were 3 brown dots on pad, nothing else. Spotting? Then again today, I wore a pad to keep check and again i hsve 3 or 4 spots of brown blood.
I rung my GP whose "helpful" advise was to retest in a week!
Is this just spotting or possibly the start of a miscarriage. I have some lower back pain which I have had since first day of missed period but no cramps or actual bleeding. : ( Anyone else in the same boat?

Keep your head up! I've heard that you are extremely fertile after a miscarriage, and that you are more likely to have a healthy baby because your body learns from it's mistakes (sorry, couldn't think of another way to word it). Get some rest and recoop, and then try again! It'll be worth it :)

Well my spotting got heavier yesterday. My doc got me a scan booked in for Weds (5 days) but sadly I passed my baby last night : ( I was 5 weeks 5 days and had been trying for 4 years. Absolutely heartbroken

Hi again.
Today I have had a little more blood, lighter in colour but not a lot and no cramps. Will this be spotting? Or am I likely to miscarry? Been to doctor, shes put me on Amoxycillin as am unsure whether I have a UTI. Will not even ring for an ultrasound appt for another 4 days because she says it is too early to see anything until 6 weeks. I am sick with worry and am playing the waiting game now. Does anyone know if I was having a miscarriage when the bleeding would become actual bleeding? I have no cramping but spotting for 3 days now.

Hi. Thanks for your post. I feel a little better knowing you have had the same yet you are having a healthy pregnancy. Its so hard not to worry and the doctors dont want to know as it is too early on!
Fingers crossed everything will be ok.
Good luck with your pregnancy xx

So this happened to me as well around the same time. 5-6 weeks. I was super scared nd also expecting the worst. I'm 12w3d now. The spotting, since it's brown is old blood. Its your body getting used to having something implanted in there. I read that spotting along with cramping could indicate early signs of miscarriage but I wouldn't worry (even though I did lol) unless the spotting becomes dark red blood nd more than just a couple spots. Hope this helps
