Spotting... how much is normal?

I just found out I was pregnant this week... today I started spotting and it seems to be a pretty heavy spotting, not strong enough to call a flow but it's definitely heavy spotting. According to the first day of my last period I am about six weeks. How much spotting is normal for this?

It's normal to spot. I spotted my first pregnancy heavy and I called my mom crying dating I was having a miscarriage so she said calm down and put your legs higher than the rest of your body and lay there for 30 minutes to an hour. I did so and by the time it was time for my ultrasound it had stopped and my son was fine. This pregnancy I had spotting then I ended up in the er and I peed blood but when they checked I was still pregnant and my hormones had tripled. Doctors think I could be still too early to find out how far along i am though so this Friday I go to see if they can find the baby and hear a heartbeat. I know deep down everything is fine though. Don't stress yourself mama. You will be fine.

Katie - do you still feel pregnant?  Heavy tender breasts,  nausea?

Spotting is tricky, it can go either way. It could be totally normal in some women while in others, even the slightest spotting could mean a miscarriage or something wrong. When i spotted a tiny bit during my second pregnancy, it turned out to be a miscarriage.

Best thing to do would be to visit your doctor and get an ultrasound done if necessary.

Wish you all the best!
