Hi ladies - we've been down this road before, and conversations that include opinions about public assistance never go well. Let's find another topic for discussion, please.

Its one thing if you need the help. I have a full time job and yea I get wic and I applied for foodstamps bc I could use the help and I was denied but truth is I don't necessarily need it. The problem with having all that help is, that it was meant to help for a temporary amount of time and woman abuse it and live off it for the rest of their lives. Its more of a triage situation.. who should get the help? The person who just needs a lil bc they help themselves already or the person who does notthing its annoying. If you can't support one child why have another and another.. but that's the governments fault
And it's becoming the 'norm' which is why you get looks like you do. The saying is that one ruins it for all, and it's very true in many aspects. You just take it with a grain of salt, and go on with what you're doing.
Omg that alot of kids for a 20y/o
It's very ignorant to assume, but in some part we all do it. I do. Yesterday I had a 20 year old, 5th pregnancy, 4 living children, Medicaid, section 8 housing, unemployed, single, WIC, food stamps... It bothers me, a lot.
I'm not noticeably pregnant yet Lol but when I'm out with my daughter I get some awful looks, I look like I'm 15/16 I'm about to be 20 on the 23Rd. I'm married, my husband works Monday to Saturday 9am to 4:30pm. I am on government assistance I get wic and FoodStamps I absolutely hate getting government help people state so much, but they assume I'm some lazy bum. When the truth is I barely see my husband because he works so much so we have a roof over our heads. It's just so frustrating to be labeled that way when my husband works his *** off!
That's understandable. But none the less still ignorant to assume but I do see yyour point
Well that really depends on why you're being looked at. Most mothers now are young (16-19) and single, and several have multiple children. The typical is also a mother who is on numerous government assistance programs - I wish I could say I was making this up, but with the line of work I do, I know this to be fact. Now, this doesn't qualify all either. I was 20 with my daughter (though I look 15) and on no assistance of any kind, married and I still get death glares. Just assumption based on the typical.
