No reputable tattoo artist would tattoo a pregnant woman. I hope nothing goes wrong and her and the baby don't get any type of infection.

Did she go to a professional, licensed shop to get her tattoo done?

The ink isnt the problem. The shock and adrenaline rush from getting a tattoo while pregnant can cause miscarriage  also if you lie and claim youre not and word gets around then you have ruined the artists whole familys means of income and also his career so probably just wait. Baby deaerves every precaution. Its only 9 months.

Im more worried she found someone that would do it. Was it like a friend in a basement or something? Because then the risk is probably even higher than normal especially pregnant

^^ what she said. Also with proper cleaning and care doesn't guarantee an infection won't happen. You can be allergic to the ink or color and your body can reject it very easily. Every artist use their own preference of ink and it varies all across the board. I know my body won't accept red as well as it does other colors but I have found one red my body likes but I still wouldn't put my child at risk for something that can easily be put off until your baby is here and is there forever so you don't have to rush it.

It just opens up her and the baby's risk of infection by a lot. I think the previous poster said it well

The ink is not the cause for concern, it is only placed under the layer of your skin. It Is the risk of infection which could possibly reach the bloodstream that is the main concern. Not all tattoos will result In infection, proper care and cleaning usually ensures that no infection will occur. But you never know.

The reasoning behind it is...While you're pregnant sores and open wounds heal slower than if you are not pregnant. Since a tattoo is basically a giant open wound, heal time is longer and doubles the risk for contracting an infection. Blood infections do breach the placenta can be incredibly harmful to the fetus.

It doesn't go into the blood stream

Most of the time the ink doesn't go into your blood stream but it can easily get infected so she really shouldn't have. But to each their own I guess.

That's really unsafe. I am surprised she found a tattoo artist who would tattoo a pregnant woman.

I've heard yes but mostly cuz artists don't want to be responsible if anything happens. I don't think there have been any proven studies though I could be wrong.

Well it's a tricky thing to say if she harmed the baby or not.  It's not good to get any tattoo while pregnant.  Before I knew I was pregnant I got a small tattoo on my ankle.  I think I was around three weeks when I got mine,  but I didn't know at the time.  My aunt on the other time got a tattoo on her ******* stomach when she knew she was pregnant.  Her little girl is fine,  but it was still ******* irresponsible as hell.  Any type of pain and shock to the nerves like that isn't good for the baby and can cause a miscarriage.  I'm surprised that any tattoo shop would let her do that. You have to sign a paper saying you're not pregnant.  I think your friend should of waited till after the baby to get any tattoo.

I heard it's also dangerous cause the ink goes to her blood stream and into the baby . not sure if that's true but it's what I heard .

The only reason its dangerous is infection and risk of passing out during.
