withdraw method

I had sex 10 days after the start of a womans period.  I withdrew properly.  The next morning we had sex again. I didnt urinate between encounters. Withdrew again.  What do you think the odds are with 2 encounters.  The withddraw method has a typical failure rate of 17% of the course of a year. But thats for couples that have regular sex all year long. I had sex twice.   Only 25% of people get pregnant the first month if they are trying, 17%of withdraw failure divided by lets say 12 months because 17% is for entire 12 cycles and im dealing with one So what about these odds  25% multiplied by 17% =4.2% divided by 12 cycles= .35%  or about 1 in 300 chance of conception from what i described.  Im just curious if any one  could agree with probability.

no matter how safe you think you are there is still a good chance for her to fall pregnant when using no protection, numbers don't matter when it comes to this.

I guess because your considered infertile with less than 20million sperm i thought i would be ok because such a small amount actually comes out in precum

i am not sure what you ahve with this math thing. like everyone said math don't work for babies. either shes pregnant or shes not, there is no other way. pull out method is stupid and if you don't want children then use protection that is really the only safe way.
and ignore the math it won't help in this situation.

i just got pregnant from the "pulling out" method...my dr says the pulling out method is the perfect way to get preg...even tho ur chances are not very high use a condom!!

i got pregnant with my first and i was 17 years old on birth control pills and it was my first time having sex and yes the guy pulled out so i don't think it works at all. I got pregnant with this baby by the pull out method as well but my husband and i didn't really care if i got pregnant we were like if it happens it happens and it happened about 2 months of using just the pull out method before that we were using condoms. my other two children were planned.

Well straight from the doctors mouth if you are using the pull out method only there is a good chance that if she is close to ovulation or ovulating that conception can occur. When I went to the dr about a possible pregnancy before, thats what he told me. He said it could be effective with B/C but it wouldn't even be 100% then. If you don't want a baby, make sure you use a trojan condom and pull out before you ejaculate, that you will be safe. GL and by the way math doesn't work I also agree with the above posters, you have a 50-50 percent chance and that men are clueless.

regardless of your calculations smith...chances are 50-50...that is the best and most simple way to put it

If you with drawl you still have a 19% chance of getting her pregnant. Oh and my therapist just told me today that if you have sex within 10 days after you have your period then it is a much higher risk of getting pregnant. Sorry

ohhhh and you do know that you're little swimmers (even in the pre ejaculate) can survive up to i do believe it's 5 days once inside right? so they are VERY determined to reach that egg that they'll hang around and WAIT for the ovulation. everybody is right...when it comes to calculating a womans body and pregnancy...you can't. we are not mathematical equations....and cannot simply be "solved".

my dh and i got pregnant within our first month of ttc and the pull out method is like shooting at the broad side of a barn. chances are....you're gonna hit. so whether or not you're trying that doesn't matter. as BTS said there is plenty of sperm in pre ejaculate to impregnante a woman and if it's 10 days past her af....she's probably either getting ready to or is ovulating. so you picked the WRONG time to have unprotected sex. IF she's not pregnant i really really really highly suggest you invest in some trojan condoms. family pack is $10 at wal mart. that's a lot cheaper then having a baby.

I have to agree with all of the posters, particularly BTS. Math can be used to determine some things but definitely not the probability of getting someone pregnant. Although I do have to say to all of the ladies... if the math was possible how awesome would that be? We would all get pregnant right away!!! I also have to admit that I kind of got a kick out of this guys post, sometimes us ladies honestly don't realize how clueless men are to these things until someone puts it into perspective!!!

smith....dude, listen to the ladies. THey're telling you that mathematical calculations don't mean squat when you're dealing with little spermies....if they wanna make it to the egg, they're gonna. YOU HAVE TO USE PROTECTION if you don't want a little one being born by your sperm fertilizing her egg.
Whether you're a mathematical genius or not is irrelevant here. Your lady friend can get pregnant anytime you're not using protection of some sort and like mentioned above, even then she can get pregnant (on b/c or if a condom breaks, etc). So, I guess it's a wait and see game now. I hope you get the results you're looking for. Pregnancy or not that is...not the mathematical results. :)

smith.... the math will never work properly. lol, because for one thing... babies are unpredictible. (conception wise.) I think you need to use Condoms from now on. if you don't your risking an unplanned pregnancy.

yeah this is just one encounter.  your encounter was 7 months long  so 60% are pregnant in 7 months. 17% failure multiply by 60% impregnated in 7 months =10% or 1  1 in 10 ...thats a lot more probable situation

if you are NOT wanting a pregnancy pull out method is by far not a good idea .. .. i dont know if this will help you much but in my situation i was 17 at the time (not so wise)lol my boyfriend and i used the pull out method we were together having sex a few times a week for about 7 months when i found out i was pregnant.. my daughter is now 5 and i love her to death but having a unplanned pregnancy is very hard .. so please if not already pregnant and not ready to be use another method.. lol ...

I too agree with BTS... there are women on here who've gotten pregnant while on 2 forms of birth control. personally my little brother is a b/c baby! (well...condom's, foam and something else.)

I'm sorry but I agree with BTS. Pulling out isn't a method and is not observed as a preventative measure by doctors. So I would say there is an excellent chance she could become pregnant, assuming she is healthy reproductively speaking. It's around the time of ovulation for many women.

Only way to know what happened is take a pregnancy test in two weeks from the time you had sex.

Also lol i need to add these, You have to multiply whichever way your doing so by the millions and millions of sperm, and in precum you are safe to say about maybe 250,000 maybe 150,000 swimmers per lil squirt of that stuff.

You honestly cannot calculate pregnancy with mathematical reasonings, if it was possible it would make trying to have a baby so much easier, and make not getting pregnant a lot easier.

Simple truth to it is Smith, she will either get pregnant or she wont. If your that worried call her and make her take the morning after pill.

Also you may want to redo your calculations lol, depending on how much sex you have on a regular basis could screw the calculation part of it up by a lot.

It is proven that sexual intercourse daily or even 3 times a week considerably brings down the amount of sperm in ejaculate.

If you went without intercourse for lets say a month, and then had unprotected sex with this woman, your chances are extremely higher compaired to having intercourse on a regular basis.

Any one else agree with my original post?

yes you are right if i had used a condom it would make it even less likely .35% multiplied by 12% failure=.04% or about 1 in 2500 chance.
