Unfortunately I had to be induced because I was a week overdue.  I was 50% effaced at about 1.5 cm dilated.  Well all it took was the cytotec pill being inserted to soften my cervix and bam went into a full blown active labor.  I had only 7 hours of labor so the softer the cervix the better you are.

get to it girl!  doctors orders...hehe...

effacement is where it begins.  i still have plenty of thinning to go with my finger tip of dialation!  i have heard many women ben 2-3 cm before labor and have longer labors and women go in with no dialation and zip right thru labor!  but i understand where you are coming from...it feels good to know that progress is happening.  she is dropped into position and that is a good start :-)

I wasn't dilated either until about 37 weeks.  I stayed at 1 cm though for 3 weeks.  This is your first baby so it goes a little slower.  Make sure to take a lot of walks.  I bet your next appointment you will be dilated.

well I hope so.. cuz I was small to begin with.. thought ur supposed to gain more if you start off small?  Well she checked for dilation and I'm completely closed.. but the baby did drop and I'm 10% effaced.   I continue to get BH contractions between 4-6 in an hour..  but it does not dilate me at all..   I was hoping my be dilated a little bit.. :(

girl, don't worry about it!  my sister-in-law only gained 18lbs with her first pregnancy.  the u/s that you are getting is standard, and not because of concern.  you will get all of the measurements to estimate how baby is growing and what size you may expect her to be.  you look completely healthy...you are all belly and may just have a tiny little girl in there!!  if your doctor had concern, they would have said something sooner.  afterall, a pregnant women spends plenty of time at the doctor so i would've thought they would be concerned way earlier if there was a problem as they have been charting your weight gain since day 1.  on top of that, the last month or so, you often don't gain weight and sometimes lose.  i haven't gained any weight in over 3 weeks.  in fact, i have lost 2lbs!

it is totally normal to lose weight a little in the end... see i lost about 50lbs during my first 4 months...then gained a total of 10lbs...the last 2 weeks i went to see the dr i was beginning to lose weight.. they often say its a sign labour is on its way soon...within the next few weeks...so you never know...dont worry too much

Absolutely not.  Consider yourself lucky.  I gained 60 freakin pounds during my pregnancy.  I would have given anything to have only gained 15.  You are naturally thin my dear so I wouldn't think much of it.
