They're uncomfortable and not very pleasant but the dr or midwife is only up there for a few minutes so just focus on breathing and maybe a poster on the wall or something. You might get light cramps and bleeding after which is normal. I had one on Friday... Still no baby 40 weeks + 5 days now. *sigh*
