I do know women who got their tubes tied young and later regretted it and really wished they could have another baby but couldn't. So if you do get it done, just make sure you're completely sure first. if you change your mind, you don't want to be stuck with the consequences

Again, the issue is guidelines doctors follow and before the mid 20's, it is more difficult to find a doctor who will do it.  good luck

I am 24 and due any day now with baby number 4. I am getting my tube tied because I want it done not because of anyone else. If I was 21 when my son was born I would have gotten it done then. Good luck and go with your gut decision.  You may be content with your two beautiful children and just raising them.

You are too young to be fully prepared to make that decision. That is why most places most drs will not preform the procedure until you are mid twenties to almost thirty. I would advise you to wait even if your Dr will do it.

I would consider a long term birth control before permanant sterilization. There are so many life changes, you could loose your spouse, divorce or just simply decide you want more children someday.

I had my tubes tied after my 4th baby at age 31. 4 years later we (same husband) decided it was a mistake and I had a tubal reversal surgery. Not only is it expensive and insurance doesn't cover it, there no guarantee that you will have another child. I'm now pregnant with my 2 child post tubal ligation and couldn't image my life without my large family.

I actually think there are states in which they have guidelines for when a doctor will perform the procedure with one being age and it is like 24 or 25.  Talk to your doctor about this.

On another forum, there are questions all the time about wanting to have another baby 10 years after having tubes tied.  reversal rarely works and the high rate of ectopic pregnancies after tubal is something to not be ignored.  It's considered permanent and to cause infertility.

Your biggest barrier to having it done very well could be your doctor being willing to do it when you are 21.  I've often wondered if that is fair because if you want it---  you should have it.  But for whatever reason, these state guidelines are there.

good luck

Do what you feel it is best. I would consider birth control for a few years and if you feel the same then I say do it. But give yourself a chance to think on it!! Many blessings

Me and my husband are waiting till our third or atleast till he is 30. You may want to wait a bit after having your baby because you will forget about labor and may morn the loss of having children. It may be reversible but with increased risks as well as a cost to get the  reversed. I make jokes about it but will deffinetly wait. Also, I for sure would have him get a vasectomy. The surgery can be brutal on some women where men just walk in and get a tiny little snip.

Having your tubes tied isn't permanent but it's not always easily reversible so maybe sometime down the road you want another and you can't get it reversed.. Honestly I'd try birthcontrol, or maybe even your partner could get a viscectomy as that is much more easily reversed.. Just some things to consider :)

I'm 22 and I was considering it. We will have two children as well when I have this one. But I think it's a really big decision to make right now personally. I've always wanted more kids. We just can't afford it right now. So I'll be taking birth control. Its a personal decision and you should always do what's right for you, not what anyone else says.
