Trying to get pregnant

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant again. It has been 10 years since I had my last child. So I wonder if my baby days are over or if there is still a chance. I still have my cycles I don't know how many days they are in between them and I don't know how to tell when I am ovulating. What is the best way to get pregnant successfully? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We would love to have a little girl to complete our family. We already have to great boys. So if it would be a boy we would be just as pleased with him as well.

I think since you are still getting your period you should be fine.  The first step would be to track your cycles for a few months.  See how many days they are apart.  As for ovulation it normally occurs, in a normal 28 day cycle, 14 days after the first day of your period.  But be careful because this is not true for all women including myself.  I have 30-32 day cycles so I only ovulate on day 17 or so.  I found out for sure by using an ovulation predictor kit.  I used Answer brand which was about $7.00.  I was just going to use it for one month to see about what day I ovulate and what my body is doing around that time.  I was keeping notes too.  I actually ended up getting pregnant that month.  Things you want to look for around ovulation is your cervical mucus gets to be like an egg white consistency, you may have cramping for about a day on one side (that is ovulation), a few days before ovulation you may have some spotting, fatigue, and just general PMS symptoms. The cervical mucus is the things to watch for though because the thinner it is the better chance of getting pregnant.  In the right environment sperm can live up to 5 days.  It is also good to start having sex every other day after your period ends and if you know when you are ovulating sex every day for 2-3 days.  I know some people check their cervix and some watch their basal body temps but I did not do any of that.  Well I know this is a little long and I think I got everything I can think of.  Good luck TTC!!!!!!!!!

First off I would start off with tracking when you ovulate, you can do this by either taking your basal body temp, checking your CM (cervical mucus), checking your cervix position, or by taking OPK's (ovulation predictor kits). I used the OPK's myself, and found that the First Response and ClearBlue ones worked really well, but if you don't want to spend a whole lot of money on the tests you can always buy them at the dollar store. You can also try FertilAid which is designed to restore Hormonal Balance & Promote Fertility, Prenatal pills, so that your getting the recommended amount of Folic Acid, and many other vitamins and herbs to help your body regulate. I myself never used any herbs or vitamins, besides the prenatals but that's because my Dr recommended that I start taking prenatal vitamins 3 months before TTC (Trying To Conceive). You can also try using a product called pre-seed found at babyhopes.com, I myself did indeed use this product after TTC for almost 7 months, I found the product and thought what do I have to loose, (besides time) it is the only lubricant that is safe for sperm, and helps the sperm get to where they need to go. I absolutely LOVE this product and recommend it to EVERYONE! Hope this helps and good luck =0)

Well the first thing you need to do is to keep track of your cycles and find out how many days they are from start to finish... Typically for any woman you ovulate 14 days before your period starts and the five days before and the day of ovulation (and some say the day after ovulation) are the best times to try to get pregnant. Most doctors will tell you to have sex every other day during this time to ensure the best chances (sex everyday can lower sperm count) and boy sperm are quicker but die faster and girl sperm are slower but live longer but there is no way to predict what sex of the baby will come out of all of it. I am not sure how old you are but if you are still having monthly periods regularly then you should be good to go to try =) Good luck!
