Tylenol & frequency

I am almost 9 wks pregnant.  I have already taken tylenol 2 -3 times during the past 5 weeks or so....

I have been getting headaches, cramps, back & hip pain....  I understand that this is all normal.  

My question is:  How much tylenol is too much?
I understand they say it is safe to take.  Am I overreacting?  Should I suck it up and live with more of these discomforts, as I know there are tons more to come.  How often do you pregnant ladies take something?

is extra strenght tylenol ok, or just regular.  Its hard to find regular in a small town!  Can I just take one of extra strenght? is that the same?

You can safely take up to 4000 mg of ANY Tylenol product a day. If you can handle some of the pain though, it's always better to not use medicines though pregnant or not.

I had headaches MY WHOLE PREGNANCY. I mean from DAY ONE!!!! (with my first)..... And i HAVE NO IDEA HOW i DID it, but i only took tylenol a handful of times, i forced myself NOT to take it... My headaches were awful, like head banging. So bad. I have no idea how i made it. Honestly id try not to take them, find a way to relieve the pain, Fresh air always helped me, as did mint, or lemon... plain old LEMON. with no sugar. I forced myself not to take any pills.... I know its "safe" but in todays world you just really never know.

Thanks for posting this question, I have been wondering the same thing.  I have been having horrible headaches nearly everyday and have been worried about how much Tylenol I could take.  I take 2 regular strength only once a day.  It helps sometimes but other times the headaches are so bad the Tylenol does nothing for them. :(

I had withdrawal migraines from stopping progesterone at 13 weeks I was taking 2 extra strength tylenol every four hours for about three days, my OB was fine with it.  I tried not taking anything but when it hurts so bad you can't see you have to do something.  I'm now 19 weeks and on my US last week she was normal :).

Near the end of my last pregnancy I was having killer headaches every day.  I worried, too, about taking Tylenol so often, but I was assured by my doctors that it was fine.  I was taking it every day at that point (only once a day), two regular-strength I think.

thanks ladies.  I can only find the extra strenght at the pharmacy here.  I took one about an hour ago & feel a tad better.  It said it was 500 mg.  Arent the reg like 325mg each.  if you take 2 thats 650 mg.  so isnt one 500mg extra strenght better for baby?

You can take two extra strength tylenol at a time. That's what the L&D nurse told me. I'm not sure how many in a 24 hour period, but if you can handle the pain and it's a little annoying, I wouldn't take anything, if it's really bothering you...then take it.

I feel if you can go without taking any medicines then it is better for you and the baby but sometimes you just have to take something..tylenol is safe but i would not take it on a regular basis and when i do have to take it i only take half the dosage they say to take..

ok.... My headache is BAD.  I'm taking one extra strenght.  I hope it will be ok.
