Update

So I just got back from the doc and I failed my 1-hr glucose test. My blood sugar was suppost to be 131 or under and it was 189!! So next week I have to go for the 3-hour test. I feel like such a bad mother. Like i let this happen because I wasnt really watching what I was eating. I feel so bad!

I had to fast before my 1 hr also.  I just did my 3 hr today.  How did yours go?  I wrote down my first 3 levels but didn't stick around for the last, I was too hungry.  From what I've found online I think I should be ok, but won't know for certain until the doc calls me with the results.  So now it's just a waiting game :)

It has nothing to do with what you did.....The one hour is not a fasting test, meaning anything that you ate right before you went in could have affected it...And those who don't have gestational diabetes don't ever have to watch what they eat, so there's no way you would know....You may still be in the clear....When I was preggo I failed my 1 hour also......170 something....and passed my 3 hour test.....So just do what they say before the 3 hour to make sure the result is 100% accurate!  (No eating 12 hours before, no drinking, gum, exercise)......Lots of luck!

Thanks ladies. I go at 9Am on monday. I tried to get earlier but thats the earliest they had. Oh well... i have to charge my IPOD and get a book from the library. The things we do for our kids... even when they arent born yet... its amazing. If i wasnt preg i would worry about it and i wouldnt even go for the test but I have to think about my little man and not myself. Thanks for the support!

Oh girl don't let it get to you... I just failed my 1 hr too.  This is the 3rd pregnancy that I have failed the 1 hr on.  It's actually quite commong to fail the 1 hr.  I wouldn't worry in the least unless the 3 hr comes back abnormal.  I have to go on Tuesday morning also...at 8:30.

You shouldn't feel like a failure or bad mother.  Pregnancy causes our bodies to do very strange things.  Most likely it's NOTHING you have done wrong/different etc.  Even if you ARE considered to have gestational diabetes it's not that big of a deal if you just pay attention and follow the docs instructions... a lot of women are able to control gestational diabetes simply thru diet, no insulin necessary.  Take a deep breath,  relax and wait to see if you fail or pass the 3 hr.  Atleast you'll know someone else is sitting there going thru the same thing....me :)

They told you 140?  I was told that when i test before breakfast it should be under 90 and then when i test 2 hours after my meals that it should be under 120.  I have only been keeping track of my levels since tuesday and so far so good.  the only time it has been above what it should it 2 hours after lunch, so i am just trying to stick to what they said and work out the lunch thing.  Do you find it hard to eat as much carbs as they tell you to?  I am eatting nowhere near what they say is my limit for the day, i think that would be way to much.

I also failed both tests.  I was horrified!  But, honestly, it's not as bad as it seems.  I have had NO PROBLEMS keeping my blood sugar under the acceptable level of 140.  I was only borderline, so I really haven't noticed having to make too much of a change in the way I eat.  I just have to eat less at each sitting and eat my snacks.  Since I found out almost 2 months ago, only one time was my levels above 140 and that was when I ate pasta.  So that just told me that pasta was a HUGE no no for me.....at least not until after I have this little critter.

I failed both of my glucose scan horribly..i failed all 4 pricks of the 3hour....you only have to fail 2 to be considered to have it. and i am now dealing with the gestational diabetes, and i DO watch what i eat...i have only gained 5lbs and i am 29w2d prego.  So don't blame yourself....it happens for lots of reasons.  If you fail your other one and need help with the adjustment we can help eachother....i dont know anyone else going through this, and i have only been testing and counting carbs and stuff for less then a week, but so far so good.
