Very early, and long menstrual period

I have been on my period for at least 12 days. I am on birth control. My period started about a week early while I was taking some antibiotics. I am now off the medication and my period hasn't stopped. I am sixteen years old. What could be causing this? and should i be worried?

I had this happen to me several times.  It was actually for me ovarian cysts.  Either way I would call a dr and let them know whats going on.  Good luck

Well it could be caused by the antibiotics, because it does make the pill less likely to work. I'd call your doctor though, I had that happen(after coming off the pill) it went on for 3cycles before I went to the doctor, turns out I have fiberioids(non cancerous tumors in the uterus). The doctor might not be worried, but you can always check. If it were to happen again, that's when I'd really start to think their may be a problem. If you start to feel light headed or faint, or experience any other symptoms, get checked out right away, you may be loosing to much blood. Take care!

i've been on the pill for over a year, its a low dosage because it wasnt initially prescribed to prevent pregnancy so i was thinking that maybe i just need to switch pills to a higher dosage. but bleeding this long CAN'T be normal. could it be a sign of a miscarriage?

How long have you been on the pill?  I would just call your gyn and let them know.  They may want to do some blood work and check for anemia since you have been bleeding.
