WPW and Pregnancy

hi,
im 18 and currently 2.5 months pregnant and planning on giving my baby up for adoption.
3 years ago i was diagnosed with wpw (fluke thing) and i was scheduled for an ablation shortly thereafter. however, the ablation was unsuccessful, my doctor seems to think that i have a disfunctional/absent AV node and the pathway is actually part of my normal rhythm, had he removed it i would have needed a pacemaker for the rest of my life. currently im not symptomatic and if my heart does beat fast it's for an extremely short amount of time (about 3 seconds) and sometimes i can see it beat through my chest but that has always been "normal" for me.
i'm just wondering if anyone has had any problems with wpw and giving birth? im very nervous about the whole matter and hospitals make me even more nervous. i was wondering if i could still give birth in a birthing center or if i have to be in a hospital even though im not sympomatic?
thanks so much!

wow--shes ok now though right?
i actually haven't met with the parents yet, hopefully i will be soon though, i would like them to be there when its born so they can start bonding as soon as they can.
and i spoke with my cardiologist and he's convinced me that its best to deliver in a hospital, he hasn't been wrong on anything else so far so im going to trust him on this one.
thanks so much though for sharing your opinion!

Hello!  My cousin had this same problem and she wasnt symptomatic through out her entire pregnancy.  She ended up having a c-section (her OB felt it best not to let her labor) during the c-section to this day they still arent sure what happened they think it may have had something to do with the anesthesia, but her heart rate started decreasing dramatically.  They had to escort her husband out and she ended up with a pace maker.  She was young as well (22).  Not saying any of this to scare you, I would never want to do that; just make you aware of the things that could happen.  Personally I feel it would be best to labor in a hospital where they have all of the necessary equipment and know-how.  If I'm not being too personal, have you met the adoptive parents of your baby yet?  It's probably just a little comfort, but maybe if you surround yourself with positive and supportive people during labor some of your fears will subside.  Hope this helped!  Good luck.
